snooping - the crux of the problem
I have a computer with two interfaces, say with addresses 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2. I want to set up routing such that when I ping 192.168.1.1 it goes out through 192.168.1.2 and not to the local interface. Is this possible - all my attempts so far have been unsuccessful? If so, pointers, etc. would be gratefully appreciated. Jim -- Jim Redman (505) 662 5156 x85

Tracking user's activity
Greetings, I've been looking for a proper way to to track down user's activity inside the shell as I'm helping my colleague to configure a web hosting and shell hosting server. Someone have referred me to this article -- http://bsdtips.utcorp.net/mediawiki/index.php/Snoop which is using 'watch' commands to view user's activity once they logged in to the server I found

Encrypted remote backup?
...arily looking to just back up my mail folder on my server. I've been backing it up to local hd via rsync but that drive just died, I'd prefer to have it backed up to somewhere more stable than a home box and automated via cron (cli tools a must), but encryption is important, people are snoopy and I'm paranoid about that sort of stuff.

Supsend/hibernate on Samsung NC10
Hi, I cannot have suspend and hibernate working on a Samsung NC10 (netbook) running CentOS 5.4 i386. When I try suspending/hibernating the screen becomes black (with a few logs, like "shrinking memory" for hibernate) and then the computer hangs and I have to force a shutdown with the power button. This wiki page seems to say that it should work out of the box:

Converting Hash to and from URL params
I''m sure this is easy since rails does this internally, but I need to convert a string of url formatted variables "foo=bar&baz=snoo&why=because" to a hash, and I need to convert a hash to url format. Now before I roll my own methods to do this, does rails expose this functionality somehow? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

NUT and Ablerex MARS 3000RT
Hello, I own some Ablerex MARS 3000 (MS3000RT) UPS. Following the thread here : http://osdir.com/ml/monitoring.nut.user/2006-04/msg00091.html I would have the following issues : 1. The battery charge displayed seems wrong : It always shows 100.0 - even when the battery is disconnected for replacement. 2. Battery voltage 2.29 is also static ...and wrong. The initial assumption of being the voltage

...every computer for every user. This is insane. Ok, so maybe I should be able to fix the problem with the driver installation not working the first time (any ideas?), but this is only a small step in the entire process. cups makes this so much easier :-(. Any ideas? Thanks. -- Brian May <bam@snoopy.apana.org.au>

Hey folks, As part of a local change, we like to authlog the commands executed via command line, i.e.: ssh user at host "somecommand" And I was able to modify session.c like so: -------------------------------------- case SSH_CMSG_EXEC_CMD: if (type == SSH_CMSG_EXEC_CMD) { command = packet_get_string(&dlen);

TDM400 takes Zap/4 line off hook
...ding the computer would boot again. In the process I removed the TDM400 card, this only confirmed my theory. Anyway, at the moment everything is working again at the state it was when I started. Any ideas on how to make Zap/4 work correctly? Zap/3 still appears to work fine. -- Brian May <bam@snoopy.apana.org.au>

Full replay logs of OpenSSH sessions
Hi all, I am not 100% sure if this is a -dev or a -user topic, but I am leaning towards the former. Feel free to cuss at me and tell me to ask -user, instead. I used to run a patchset that allowed full logs of everything taking place via OpenSSH. This also allowed me to replay any session, live or after the fact. I am fully aware of the security implications of logging everything, especially
