2nd printer won't print
Good morning, I would appreciate some help. SAMBA is new turf. I am working out of a John Blair Book SAMBA: Integrating UNIX and Windows 1998 PROBLEM: unable to print to the 2nd of two printers on a samba host. ENVIRONMENT: -4 systems in a home network; connected to an HP hub (10 meg) -3 systems run Red Hat linux 9.0 (system names: snoopy, white, olblue) -4th system runs Windows 2000

snooping - the crux of the problem
I have a computer with two interfaces, say with addresses 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2. I want to set up routing such that when I ping 192.168.1.1 it goes out through 192.168.1.2 and not to the local interface. Is this possible - all my attempts so far have been unsuccessful? If so, pointers, etc. would be gratefully appreciated. Jim -- Jim Redman (505) 662 5156 x85

Tracking user's activity
Greetings, I've been looking for a proper way to to track down user's activity inside the shell as I'm helping my colleague to configure a web hosting and shell hosting server. Someone have referred me to this article -- http://bsdtips.utcorp.net/mediawiki/index.php/Snoop which is using 'watch' commands to view user's activity once they logged in to the server I found

Encrypted remote backup?
Can anyone recommend a commercial off site remote backup service with a client (preferably FOSS) for CentOS 5, preferably that allows encryption of the data being backed up? Small scale, I'm primarily looking to just back up my mail folder on my server. I've been backing it up to local hd via rsync but that drive just died, I'd prefer to have it backed up to somewhere more stable

Supsend/hibernate on Samsung NC10
Hi, I cannot have suspend and hibernate working on a Samsung NC10 (netbook) running CentOS 5.4 i386. When I try suspending/hibernating the screen becomes black (with a few logs, like "shrinking memory" for hibernate) and then the computer hangs and I have to force a shutdown with the power button. This wiki page seems to say that it should work out of the box:

Converting Hash to and from URL params
I''m sure this is easy since rails does this internally, but I need to convert a string of url formatted variables "foo=bar&baz=snoo&why=because" to a hash, and I need to convert a hash to url format. Now before I roll my own methods to do this, does rails expose this functionality somehow? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

NUT and Ablerex MARS 3000RT
Hello, I own some Ablerex MARS 3000 (MS3000RT) UPS. Following the thread here : http://osdir.com/ml/monitoring.nut.user/2006-04/msg00091.html I would have the following issues : 1. The battery charge displayed seems wrong : It always shows 100.0 - even when the battery is disconnected for replacement. 2. Battery voltage 2.29 is also static ...and wrong. The initial assumption of being the voltage

windows printer config management
Hello, I sent this request to my local linux user group: <http://lists.luv.asn.au/wws/arc/luv-talk/2008-02/msg00000.html> Unfortunately it looks like nobody is able to answer, so I will try here: Does anybody know of any sane solution for (globally) managing the configuration of printers on a large number of Windows computers? My current solution is 1. create samba server with printer

[Vorbis-dev] Zero length reported.
Okay - so I stepped through the code slowly this morning making notes as I went. And I can see what’s wrong. The last Ogg header of the troublesome file contains -1 as the granule position. The spec says this has a special meaning "A special value of '-1' (in two's complement) indicates that no packets finish on this page." 4F 67 67 53 00 04 FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF 16 A2

Hello - I send this to the vorbis-dev list yesterday, but I’m working if it would not have been better targeted at this list. Hey folks, As part of a local change, we like to authlog the commands executed via command line, i.e.: ssh user at host "somecommand" And I was able to modify session.c like so: -------------------------------------- case SSH_CMSG_EXEC_CMD: if (type == SSH_CMSG_EXEC_CMD) { command = packet_get_string(&dlen);

Hello, I have a TDM400 with 2 FXS modules and 2 FXO modules, as follows: Zap/1 - internal phone Zap/2 - internal modem Zap/3 - exchange Zap/4 - exchange Recently I upgraded zaptel (and kernel modules) from 1.0.9-1.1 to 1.0.9.1 and upgraded asterisk to 1.0.9.dfsg.1-3, which are Debian versions for Debian/sarge of the packages I believe the Debian maintainers created (not in Debian) The above

Full replay logs of OpenSSH sessions
Hi all, I am not 100% sure if this is a -dev or a -user topic, but I am leaning towards the former. Feel free to cuss at me and tell me to ask -user, instead. I used to run a patchset that allowed full logs of everything taking place via OpenSSH. This also allowed me to replay any session, live or after the fact. I am fully aware of the security implications of logging everything, especially
