Can't access DNS from RSAT
Good morning all! I have two DCs, both running Samba 4.7.3. I have just joined the second DC to the domain. The second DC is replicating AD objects perfectly, I verified this by running "samba-tool drs showrepl" as well as using the ADUC RSAT snapin and adding a user to one DC, then switching the DC that ADUC connects to and verifying that the user was properly replicated. The DNS

Can't access DNS from RSAT
I found this page https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12807 which seemed to have someone experiencing the same issue I am. I tried adding "allow dcerpc auth level connect:dnsserver = yes" to my smb.conf, rebooted the server, but still I get the an access denied message in windows. However, what is logged in the log.samba files has changed since adding this option to my smb.conf.

Can't access DNS from RSAT
The user is a member of "Domain Admins" so they should be able to access the DNS (as is evident by the fact that they can access the DNS thru RSAT on the initial DC). But just to be thorough I have added "Domain Admins" to the group "DnsAdmins" and tested again, still get the "access denied" error from within windows. On Tue, Dec 12, 2017 at 11:01 AM,

Can't access DNS from RSAT
Daniel, I could kiss you :D I am using the default SSL certs in samba. I tried connecting to the new DC using it's FQDN instead of it's IP, and BAM, it connected just fine. Couldn't really tell you why, but as long as I can access it I'm happy! On Tue, Dec 12, 2017 at 11:20 AM, Daniel Carrasco <d.carrasco at i2tic.com> wrote: > Are you using the default ssl certs in

Can't access DNS from RSAT
I cranked up the log level to 3 and found this in the log.samba file when trying to open the DNS Manager RSAT from my client machine (which is joined to the same domain as the DCs) [2017/12/12 09:59:30.601170, 2] ../source4/rpc_server/dcerpc_server.c:1804(dcesrv_request) dcesrv_request: restrict auth_level_connect access to [dnsserver] with auth[type=0xa,level=0x2] on [ncacn_ip_tcp] from

Can't access DNS from RSAT
Are you using the default ssl certs in samba?. I had a similar issue, and after create my own certificate with all common names used on my domain (for example domain.com, dc1.domain.com and dc2.domain.com), I'm able to manage the dns using RSAT using that named. With ip address still failing. Greetings!! El 12 dic. 2017 6:13 p. m., "Taylor Hammerling via samba" < samba at

OT Windows policy question
List, Thanks tremendously to JC and JHT for guiding (nay, kicking) me toward getting ACLs to work on RHAS3. Reading the RH sysadmin guide about ACLs and searching elsewhere, as well as thinking for myself, were also a pre. Now for something completely different: High school in Amsterdam Netherlands: - RHAS3 - Samba 3.0.11 RPC, not ADS (no way we're upgrading while the bug reports keep

printer drivers from windows 7 MMC?
I found a fancy, easy (seeming) way to add printer drivers in windows 7 since the old methods don't seem to work anymore. if you run mmc, you can add a snapin called print management, which enables you to manage various things (drivers, forms, ports, and printers to be most important). Problem is, I can't figure out how to use the "Drivers" method to add drivers. I get a

samba4 PDC to BDC file replication
Hi, I have built two samba4 boxes, one as a PDC and the as a DC, all working perfectly. If I create a user through the mmc snapin then turn off the PDC, I can still login to the domain using the DC which is great. The problem is their files and ntfs permissions on BDC. I have assigned user and group rights using windows explorer to certain folders, i.e granted user1 full permissions to that

problems writing to profile share when updating from samba 2.2.3a to 2.2.5
Hi, we updated our samba 2.2.3a to 2.2.5 because of several printing problems. Now our Clients (win 2k & xp) can't write to their profiles share (the windows error-message was: "this file is used by another process", but there weren't any other processes from this user). In the samba logfile we can't see any write-attempt from the client. Our smb.conf: [global]

Storing GPC and GPT
Is possible to store the Group Policy Container (GPC) on a OpenLDAP? Is possible to store the Group Policy Template (GPT) on a Samba share? The idea is to manage windows desktop policies using the new Win200x GPOs without using an Active Directory. Any other hints? recommended procedure for mandatory roaming profiles for win7 with samba 3
Hello, I have a PDC and a File (member) server for homes and profiles (Samba 3.4.17). For XP clients I have mandatory profiles with all user shell folders redirected to their respective home share. Now I'm adding win 7 clients to the mix and I want the same thing. It's (almost) working but I think my procedure is a bit dirty (i.e. I use "windows enabler" to build my ntuser.man
