fonts - newbie squared
Background:
I run an NT 4.0 installation that also boots to my primary Linux (Red Hat 9)
sitting on a partition in a second drive. Earlier, after installing Red Hat
9, I tried to install wine, but it Had Problems, even when I tried some of
the solutions. So I waited. Recently, I tried to install an updated version
of wine using an rpm, so I tried to unstall the old stuff. Wouldn't

Dependency Walker
I wonder if this would be of use. I'm too much of a newbie to Linux/Wine to
understand what I need to do, but I think this might help.
http://www.dependencywalker.com/
Dependency Walker is a free utility that scans any 32-bit or 64-bit Windows
module (exe, dll, ocx, sys, etc.) and builds a hierarchical tree diagram of
all dependent modules. For each module found, it lists all the functions

I installed another app, but it wouldn't run until I moved Mfc40.dll into the
system folder. I didn't change the config file, but the app now works.
Tempting a mental breakdown, I then installed another app, but got these
messages during the installation:
"Setup is registering installed files" in one msg dialog, and:

MHLABL32.OCX
MHLIST32.OCX

minor disaster
Somehow my .config ended up with zero bytes. The only things I can think of
happening is looking at it in WineTools, and perhaps failing to install a
program. Any ideas? The last time it had something in it was yesterday when I
looked at it in WineTools, then this morning it had nothing in it. But I
don't remember if it was before or after trying to install something. I just
thought that

re: fonts - newbie squared now keyboard
Well, fonts look (usually) nice on my main machine, but still dragged out when
I ssh from my laptop. Big thanks for the help. I'm currently trying to learn
how to install into my fake windows directory. I moved one app in bodily (so
what happened to them install files) and it seems to work fine, with hardly
any more annoying problems than in windows. But...
Does anyone have experience

drives - semi newbie
Okay, on the nth reading about drives at
http://www.winehq.com/site/docs/wine-user/config-drive-main
I see that I simply need to type P:\usr\mywine, or, in my case, P:\mnt\crate
to access my FAT drive. But, ya know, it seems I cannot find where I am to
type this. Now, in the ancient past, I have done this in an ancient wine
version by putting it in a certain section in the configuration file,

dlls - still a newbie
I'm very confused as usual.
I have an NTFS/Linux dual boot. I usually run from kde.
If I understand correctly, wine, when it runs a program will
1. see it ask for a function in a dll
2. check up in the config file for that dll and note if native or built-in or
nothing has been noted.
3. from there, it will either use built-in, or native file in the order
written.
So, if I install and app,
