samba-3.0.0-rc4 and Domain Admins
Hi!
I am experiencing problems adding a user (e.g. smbadmin) to the "Domain
Admins" group on my samba-PDC using the ldapsam backend.
When I add "Domain Admins" as a supplementary group, the Windows 2000
client doesn't treat smbadmin as an admin. However, using "Domain
Admins" as the primary group (including setting samb...

I have several high priority users putting data in their Home directory so
that it can be backed up on the server. I have discovered that even though
these directories are not browsable, anyone who is in the smbadmins group
can type //crhpdc/username in Start>Run and have full access to the person's
home directory. I am stuck here as to how to fix this.

Can´t login domain admins

configured samba like I could see in this easy manual:

(before this, I write for each pc : adduser -g "group" -d /dev/null -s
/dev/null netbiosname$ > smbpasswd -a -m netbiosname )
My domain admin group is called smbadmins. I only have two kind of
groups which login in the domain, scc (user domain) and smbadmins ( Domain
admins).
From a W2k, a user logs correctly in the domain. The doiman users can
see the share directories in the pdc server, their home directory, but all
smbadmins can?t log in the domain, but t...

net groupmap modify ntgroup="Domain Admins" ... succeeds but fails
After reading through the documentation, I realized that as a part of the
migration process from Samba-2.2.X to Samba-3.0.0 I needed to convert
everyone in my smbadmin group (previously domain admin group = @smbadmin) to
the "Domain Admins" group w/rid=512. So, I issued the following command:
[root@localhost profile]# net groupmap modify ntgroup="Domain Admins"
unixgroup=smbadmin
The command succeded as was evidenced by net groupmap list:...

valid users fails with net groupmap rid=512
Hi,
The group that is mapped to rid=512 cannot be used in "valid users", the
users cannot map the share (error 5).
Is this normal? Should I file a bug?
Version 4.1.6-Ubuntu
server role = classic primary domain controller
smb.conf:
valid users = +smbadmin
command:
net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=smbadmin rid=512 type=d
As soon as I remove the group mapping with "net group delete", the users
can access the share.
But after adding the groupmap again, they get error 5.
So I must create two groups with the same...

This is not happening for me.
When I connect from a Win2k machine as Administrator, the log file

Can anyone else verify this behaviour for me.

Cannot copy back profile
...e reasons when the profile does not
belong to the user itself windows tells me upon logout that it cannot
copy back some files to the server. Weird, because the directory
where the profile resides is readable and writable by the user,
although it doesn't belong to him.
I have a generic ``smbadmin'' user, belonging to ``Domain Admins''
which reads and writes the profiles, so all the files in any profile
in my samba domain (forcing its group) do actually belong to
``smbadmin:Domain Users'' and have rwx set to group and user. I'd
like to keep all these files...

performance problem with 3.2.8: unbuffered reads for some users
Hi!
I'm experiencing strange performance problems after upgrading to samba
3.2.8 from 3.0.30.
For all users except smbadmin (who has administrative rights), read
performance is _very_ bad. Looking at the read-requests using filemon
and wireshark, I found out that for those users, every read is handled
transparently (unbuffered) over the net. (I.e. a 2 byte read-request of
the application leads to a 2 byte Read And X Req...

command with root using the following command:
mount -t cifs //smb.physics.wisc.edu/smb /smb

root can also access files as expected
However, when cifs-utils 6.6-5 is installed, a different user cannot
access as expected:
ls /smb

But when cifs-utils 6.4-1 is installed (from jessie) the different
