ANNOUNCE: SMB2WWW, a web gateway to SMB networks
Ladies and gentlemen,
it is with great pleasure that I announce to you SMB2WWW, a HTML gateway
to SMB (or Windows) networks.
What is it ?
SMB2WWW is a set of perl scripts designed to give you access to your
network in a similar way as the Network Neighbourhood of MS Windows
fame. It requires a recent version of perl, samba and a web server that
supports CGI.
What can I do...

Web inteface for uploading?
I was wondering if there is a web interface out there for
uploading and downloading from samba shares? I found the
SMB2WWW but it at the moment does not support upload nor
does it seem very secure. I would like something that
requires authentication. Has anyone done this or is it
even possible yet?

how to browse Windows shares
Hi;
I've installed samba under Linux, and I can see my shares from Windows2000
client machines. I can also use smbclient to see the content of shares in
Windows machines. So I'm quite happy :-)
But what I can't do is to browse the contents of windows machines in a
browser installed in my linux OS. I use Konqueror, and I'm not able to
browse the content of the lan.

samba and/or DAV
...eatures in samba that do not have a direct counterpart at DAV
like valid users, force group ... and then samba allows to map
different directories under the same sharename for different users,
which is also a very common feature in samba.
WebDav seems as an alternative to VPN's and tools like smb2www-2 to
me, cause its very easy to install and could be secured/maintained in
well known apache-context (if one uses the apache-dav-modules)
Thnx for all,
peter

WEB Front End for Clients???
I was wondering if there is a web front end for clients. By
this I mean, is there something I can install on my apache
server( wich is running on the same server ) that will alow
my users to go to a page, login, and it drop them into there
home directory. I have researched WEBDAV but I don't think
it has the functionality that I need. Any help is greatly
appreciated

Complete Web Interface?
Hi all,
I was wondering, has anyone built a complete web interface for SMB servers? What I was thinking of would be something like SMB2WWW, but that would also allow the user to click command buttons to delete, upload, move, rename, etc. Permissions to the shares would be established the same way as they are done now, by asking for a username / password on restricted shares.
Essentially, I need a complete web interface to smbclient....

No subject
...tle.
Basically, I'm looking for a web front-end for Samba shares, so that folks
outside of the network can access content in their shares. Ideally, I'd
love to see a product that would allow file upload & download, directory
creation, etc. I've run across a package called "smb2www", but it seems a
bit "rough around the edges" and hasn't been updated since 1998 (from what
I can tell). Are there folks out there that have either built their own
web-SMB conduit (through something like PHP or Perl), or does anyone know
if commercial products exist on the M...
