GSoC Interested Student:Encode Analysis results in MachineInstr IR, Slimmer project
...is and also implemented static
instrumentation using LLVM APIs, to finally generate memory accesses trace
for a program.
For GSOC'20, I am interested in working on either of 2 research projects
that are based on llvm, First is encode analysis results in MachineInstr
IR, second is finishing the Slimmer Tool to find potential performance bugs
in programs.
I checked the details of the existing work to learn about the Slimmer tool,
but I am looking for more information on requirements, and help with
resources on both of these projects.
Thank you.

Adopting a third-party JSON library
Hi,
I'm a new contributor. I'm considering the possibility of adopting a third-party JSON library instead of LLVM's homegrown `lib/Support/JSON.cpp`. The way I see it, this would bring several advantages as well as some downsides:
+ Slimmer codebase.
+ Benefit from upstream work and active contributions to another project.
+ Possibly improved performance and API ergonomics.
- Likely compile times regression as many JSON libs are header-only.
- Risk of introducing bugs and breakages across LLVM.
As far as I can tell, these are the...

xyplot: strip size
Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to control
the strip size in xyplot for example using the
strip.default function. Or do I need to redraw
the strips by myself?
I would like to make
the strip slimmer and I have reduced the font
size using cex. However, I don't know how
to change the size of the strip.
Thanks for any tips.

One Lighttpd or many?
I''m trying to get Lighttpd started, and understand how it works (not
quite there yet with Ror). Some questions:
1) Can I run Lighttpd as a main server instead of Apache2?
2) When hosting different RoR projetcs, will there be one server for
each? Or is it one server running all?
2) Can it do everything Apache can? Like PHP, webdav, etc?

What is eating my memory?
The tail of two systems and one hard drive.
I install centos 5 on a HD while it is in a Compaq with 256Mb memory.
After install, i am in graphics mode (Gnome) and top reports not quite
all 256Mb used.
Then I move the HD to a decTOP with 512Mb memory. I am running
non-graphics (init 3). I ssh into the unit and top reports not quite
all of that used.....
So what ate up more than 256Mb

the first time, please post any findings/insights in this thread so others
can follow along.
(for the record, `illumos-gate/usr/src/cmd/sgs/libld/common % wc -l *.c`
gives about 45k lines of code, so LLD/ELF is still quite a bit slimmer,
though giving solaris libld a factor of 2 handicap due to using C vs C++
brings them basically to parity)
There even seems to be a simple "libelf": http://src.illumos.

Main interface is the "struct Elf": http://src...

...possible. This is not an effort
to control content or accuracy (everyone here does a good
job of that). It is solely an effort to raise the signal

For new accounts, this is still a pretty open trust policy.
We've also locked the front page and will be designing
a slimmer look and feel in hopes of helping organize
things more. More on this later.
So if you haven't taken part in the wiki, check it out

wxruby + GTK2.0
I have a newly-installed Ubuntu linux box that I''m planning to use for
wxruby development (thanks for the advice on remote desktops from this
group). However, turns out that Ubuntu comes with GTK2.0, annd
wxwidgets 2.6 is reportedly better and easier to build than 2.4.2
against this.
Before I set off on a potentially fruitless compiling journey, I was
wondering if anyone had had

Howto install domU CentOS 5 directly on partition
Hi.
I am new to CentOS (Debian user) and I am looking for way how to install
CentOS 5 on domU in the way that I have it directly on dom0 LVM partition.
If I install it with virtual-manager then the installation program takes
that partition as a disk and then creates new partitions on it. I don''t
want it that way because I cannot then mount it from dom0.
Is there some way how to
