TLS ca/cert/key creation
...ne TLS since when I set "ldap server require >> strong auth = allow_sasl_over_tls" or "ldap server require strong >> auth = yes" user and group queries fail. This is OBVIOUSLY using LDAP and TLS. If this was via NTLM/Kerberos, the above setting wouldn't make the slightest difference. But all that aside - the key question is: [Again, lets quit arguing if this is TLS/LDAP or Kerberos.] *** How do I get visability into the TLS negotiation so I can figure out what's wrong with my ca/certs/keys. -Greg

IMAPS - timeout while moving mails
...ust use dovecot for me as the only user. However, when I try to move a 'larger' amount of mails (>200) from my local TB-mbox to the remote IMAPS-storage, the process hangs after about 150 - 160 transferred mails (the 'blocking' mail is _never_ the same). I don't have the slightest clue why - there is nothing in the logs - even if I turn 'verbose_ssl' on. After a while, TB tells me, that the server timed out and dovecot says: "imap(petar): Disconnected" Usually - if I close my MUA correctly - dovecot says: "imap(petar): Disconnected: Logged out&quo...

Serious bug in OpenOffice.org Calc shipped with CentOS
...I type "lundi" (monday) in one cell, so I can pull Calc's handle to fill other cells with the days of the week. Doing the same with "janvier" (january) does so with the names of the month. Well, this function is broken in OO shipped with CentOS. And I don't have the slightest clue as to why. Tried the same on a more recent version of OO in Ubuntu, and it works like a charm. Anyone has a solution to this? This seems like a major nuisance to me. Cheers, Niki

failed to call wbcGetpwnam/wbcGetgrnam/wbcGetpwsid WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND
That's great. You managed to get a freshly installed Arch linux install to provision correctly. This doesn't help me solve my issue in the slightest. I don't need to know that it CAN work correctly, I need to know why my install is NOT working correctly and so far you, Rowland, have not done anything to help that situation. Sorry to be blunt but all you have done is prove what I already know SHOULD happen does happen on a working install....

libvirtd not starting
...iter_append_basic() were incorrect, assertion "_dbus_check_is_valid_utf8 (*string_p)" failed in file ../../dbus/dbus-message.c line 2754." Starting libvirtd manually just by issuing the command "libvirtd" without any further arguments is working, though. I do not have the slightest idea what is going on, especially as I didn't change anything about the config files. Any help would be appreciated, thank you Lothar Schilling

2.6 I/O path totally messed up
The second argumentto generic_file_write_nolock is an iovec, not an actual userbuffer. The current code doesn't even have the slightest chance to work. Maybe it's time to decouple the 2.6 read/write code from the 2.4 code and implement proper vectored operations everywhere? (and kill tge O_DIRECT vs O_APPEN hack, and the broken fallback code, and..)

Rglpk
Hi list, in the Rglpk_solve_LP function (::Rglpk), on line 26, the function calls a function as.glp_bounds() that i cannot access. i'm trying to alter the Rglpk_solve_LP function to add a line to retrieve column/row dual values. everytime i change the slightest line of code inside Rglpk_solve_LP() [to even add a print] i get a ': could not find function "as.glp_bounds"' What's the catch here ? Problem with a barplot...
...thus the colours are getting muddied by the black borders). Changing the border colour doesn't help at all, and I was hoping that there was a way to remove the borders of the bars (i.e. have each bar snug right up against the next). I've tried varying any parameter that seems to have the slightest relation, but no luck. Can someone point how to remove the borders or perhaps suggest an equivalent way to do this with another function? I would appreciate any and all help. I've installed the latest nvidia drivers for g3 and still no go. Not sure I even have the slightest clue of what I'm doing. Any pointers or good resources? Thanks.

crontab won't work
...cremental backup with rsync over SSH. The script is executable OK, it works very well when launched by hand on the command line... except cron won't start it. Here for example I tried to launch it on 17:24. Nothing. I checked the machine 'date', it's OK. Now I don't have the slightest clue why this doesn't work. What's the magic word here ? Cheers, Niki

unable to generate doc for 0.5
Hi Thimas, This morning, i''ve tried to generate documentation for webgen head and was sad to see that not the slightest generated content was added to generated files. All the layout is present, but no generated content seems to be added. Additionnaly, there are a bunch of warnings displayed during generation. For that, I''ve done a ruby bin/webgen -d doc in the webgen directory. -- Nicolas Delsaux N'&...

Changing default nic and storage types
...of cobbler using koan and all of them are running virtio wherever applicable, but this is not the default, and at present there is no way within koan or cobbler to define what type of devices they should be. I've hard coded this device type declaration into koan, but don't like that in the slightest, and would typically expect to be able to just set "default=virtio" in a libvirt config file somewhere. I fear I'm actually not missing anything and it's just hard coded for the most compatible device with no recourse to override it. Thanks Chris

puzzling lm.fit errors

SMB gurus: please help - I am desperate.
I apologize up front for re-posting this, but I need to find a solution to this problem. I have been having hard time to believe that there isn't one person among the SMB gurus that doesn't know how a W2K client connects to an SMB server. So, if you happen to know even the slightest hint to this baffling problem, I would be forever grateful. OK. Here goes (original subject line was: "Why does a W2K (pro) client do more than it is asked to do?") Desperate to find out why connecting to a samba share(on an AIX server) from W2K is so slow, I tried connecting to the sam...

Dune 2000 - no keyboard response - good rendering speed
...tion worked for Half-Life, but not for Dune 2000. Also, I noticed how incredibly fluent Dune 2000 rendered and responded. Every other DirectDraw app I've tried is sluggish, even if only a little. Dune 2000 had none of that, and I'm very demanding in that regard, so I would have noticed the slightest cursor lag. It felt just like running it in Windows. How can it be that games like Starcraft and Red Alert run slowly, and Dune 2000 doesn't? Don't they all have the problem that they can't use DGA? Additionally, I know that for Starcraft a depth conversion has to be done (from 8 bit, t...

Minor dovecot/KMail problem
...nder CentOS-5.3 on my desktop, reading the mail with KMail on my laptop. I have what seems a venerable and well-documented problem/bug; when I click on "Check Mail" I get an error message "Error while getting folder information" ... Actually, this doesn't appear to have the slightest effect on kmail, which works perfectly if one just presses Continue. But I have worked out that the cause of the problem is that there exists a kind of ghost folder, "uidvalidity", which is listed among the folders on the kmail page but does not in fact seem to exist in my maildir on the...
