Allow direct connection between some (but not all) nodes on the network (Guus Sliepen)
Guus Sliepen,
I am working in a zeroconf setup for tinc called tzk, that could allow you
to make this easily
https://github.com/NebTex/tzk/
it will make better readme this weekend but you need a public machine with
a public domain - subdomain pointed to it, the script will install tinc,

Hi!
When I try to use tinc I get this message 'Cannot route packet: unknown type

Below is my setup:

tinc on macosx
Hi,
I have macosx 10.5.8 and Tunnelblick (openvpn) installed before.
I have installed tinc using port and got version 1.0.11 (Jun 29 2010
15:10:51)
now I have 2 problems:
1) the interface variable from the tinc.conf is not used, instead I have a
tun0 interface (or tap0).
2) the tinc-up script seems to be fired too early as I get an
error: ifconfig: interface /dev/tap0 does not exist

tinc 1.0pre4 released
...now, so this might very
well be the last prerelease. The only things that have to be tested are the
TCPonly and IndirectData options and the FreeBSD and Solaris ports (any help
will be greatly appreciated).
Thanks,
the Tinc Development Team.

Weird arp behavior
Hi all,
So, I've deployed Tinc in a non normal manor to which has been working
just fine for days up until recent. Here is a description of the network.
There are two VPN host controllers, A and B. All nodes have a separate
connection to A and B. Tinc has been configured to be in 'switch' mode
for both the A cloud and B cloud. On the back end, I have OSPF running
on all nodes and

Sign/verify data with ed25519 keys of a tinc 1.1 host
My intention was to sign the content of export-all with the nodes' public key, which would require the corresponding private key to verify.
Does this make sense ?

FW: Almost ...
...not yet available on the tinc site.
The Var. VpnMask is unknown in version pre1.
Netmask is 255.0.0.0 on tap0 on both gateways.
Still the problem that you can ping the gateway on the other network but not
the machines behind it.
I've used the rpm download.

Problem with more than two Subnets!
Hello, I successfully built a vpn between two hosts ("main" and "iquique") (and its SubNets), but I have problems
when I want to add another host ("valparaiso"): I get a lot of Duplicates packets everywhere and a very slow
vpn. I guess that is a routing problem, but I have try with a lot of alternatives without result. I have try with "switch",

I hope this will help! We are not bothered at all by your questions, so if
you have more of them, please ask! And we'd also be happy to hear your

tinc and routing
I have two internal networks 192.168.9.0/24 and 192.168.0.0/24 each

Patch for tunnelserver mode in protocol_subnet.c
Hello,
Here is a patch for protocol_subnet.c with two modifications :
- in tunnelserver mode, tinc must check subnets in the ".../hosts/owner"
config file, not in "c->config_tree" (which is the configuration
of the meta-connection from which we receive the ADD_SUBNET message).
- this checking can be made before the check of the owner, especially
before any

Tinc behind firewall?
...all tinc on a
machine behind the firewall. The other tinc daemon however must be
reachable, so you can't have both behind a firewall if they do masquerading.
We hope to get TcpOnly back in pre4.

NSS vs OpenSSL
Since Fedora is pushing NSS SSL instead of OpenSSL, has someone tested
tinc-vpn against NSS? As i recall, a single machine can not have
OpenSSL and mod_nss installed at the same time anymore. So if you
have apache running, you _may_ have problems running tinc? The nss
api is supposed to mostly similar to openssl api, but there are some
things openssl supports and somethings nss supports.

[URGENT] tinc has a security hole of about 50 million km^2
Sending your passphrase encrypted is all fine, but tinc sends the key
with which it was encrypted about a second later...
Anyone being able to intercept these two requests is authorized on the
VPN.
We need asymmetric authentication _now_.
