regular expressions slay me
I am furiously trying to find what I am looking for in Pickaxe book and not finding it. I''m getting some values back from a posted form and I need to get the ''id'' number off the backend. The ''String'' will always come back to me as... Some_name\r\n123 where 123 is actually the id number which I need to execute the find. The reason they are coming back

The perils of GMAX
gmax won't start up after the initial time. The messages I am getting indicate that it has become case sensitive with respect to names. The installer put in a directory named 'stdplugs' but the program wanted it to be 'StdPlugs'. So I renamed it. It still says these libraries fail to initialize. I must be missing a windows module but I did put in the recommended winetricks

FreeNX : forward audio from server to client ?
Hi, I setup a FreeNX server with a GNOME desktop, and I can access it from a client with the NoMachine client. Everything is running fine, and now I only have two problems left : audio and printing forwarding. I'll follow the "only-slay-one-dragon-at-a-time" rule and take care of audio first. Did anyone manage to forward sound with FreeNX ? Here, server and client are using

FW: opiekey segfault ... isn't that harmfull? it's setuid root
Hi, I dunno much about exploiting, but I was wondering about the setuid root program 'opiepasswd' to use one-time-passwords. When having a seed of (null) and a sequence of -1, I get a segfault. difficulties getting coef() to work in some lmer() calls
I'm working with Andrew Gelman on a book project and we're having some difficulties getting coef() to work in some lmer() calls. Some versions of the model work and some do not. For example, this works (in that we can run the model and do coef() from the output): R2 <- lmer(y2 ~ factor(z.inc) + z.st.inc.full + z.st.rel.full + (1 + factor( z.inc) | st.num),

Thanks, Jerry

how to adjust titles on sub-plots in levelplot / contour plot?
Hello, I have a (relatively long) function script that generates a levelplot. I don't want to include all of the code, so I have attached in file "miniDataSet.csv" an example for the data set "miniDataSet" that is called below. The function works OK, except that when the variables in the "splitCol" column get very large (as they are in this data set I

Feature request: usernames and passwords
A relatively recent development that spammers got wind of is users that have username==password, with/without the domain. I am tracking numerous 1-off attempts from bots to gain access to mailboxes this way. Situation isn't made any better if you're also using dovecot as SMTP AUTH provider for I am ashamed to admit I've relayed some spam that way. Would it be possible to deny login

Cannot start a secondary Xserver with resolution 6480x3840
Hi, thank you very much for your reply. I will explain my use case in more detail. First thing is to note that it worked with nvidia (apart from this annoying system freeze which happened roughly every three months). > First off, you're not using the nouveau ddx, you're using the > modesetting ddx. Inconsistent notices during puppetd --test run
I added ntp to my servers running with puppet. These are all Ubuntu machines, btw. I get the following in the verbose output: {{{ warning: Service[ntp-server](provider=debian): Could not start Service[ntp-server]: Execution of ''/etc/init.d/ntp-server start'' returned 256: * Starting NTP server... notice: /base/Service[ntp-server]/ensure: ensure changed

New User Problems
I''m trying to try out puppet and can''t seem to get to square one. I''ve been using cfengine for years and have just upgraded about 80 Debian machines to etch and wanted to try puppet. So, I have two Debian ''etch'' machines one a server and the other a client. I''m running puppet 0.23.2 installed from the unstable packages. As a first step

non-PIC code in shared libs again
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=179434 In order to fix this for Debian, I changed things around to build the .a libraries as libtool convenience libraries; this takes care of PIC and they can be portably linked into shared libraries (I believe libtool would complain about this otherwise). Josh, how would you feel about me merging these changes into flac CVS? -- - mdz

SFQ with Per Flow Caps
I''d like to implement something like SFQ, but with a cap of a rate per flow. Essentially, I''d like to be able to limit citrix connections to 30KBps without having an overall traffic flow cap for all citrix connections. Slightly preferable to this would be something that would actually work per flow instead of the stochastic algorithm. Is this possible? Thanks, Bill --

[LLVMdev] Emotional responses to feedback
Earlier this year I was lucky enough to have the chance to speak with a very successful businessman at the top of his niche, and I asked him, "Clearly you have a formula for success, what is it?" He told me his secret. He said that every month they pull a name out of a bucket, and that person must then prepare a 20 minute presentation explaining why one of their COMPETITOR'S

Document Scanning and Storage
I'd like to start scanning our boxed up documents. I'd say about 30,000 files total. Mostly to eliminate the boxes of paper we have. I'd like to scan them, store them, Have some sort of index, and be able to retrieve them on multiple machines. I think PDF would be the desired format. I'd like be able to set some permissions as well. (not a deal breaker...) I've searched
