Shape incoming & outgoing multiple-backbone traffic
Dear all,
I have 3 backbones for my local network.
1st backbone: down 1024kbps, up 1024kbps through eth1
2nd backbone: down 2048kbps, up 2048kbps through eth2
3rd backbone: down 1024kbps, up 128kbps through eth3
Local network: 192.168.0.0/16 through eth0
Router: Linux Slakware 11 with iproute2
Please let me know how to shape both incoming and outgoing traffic for
this case.
LARTC doc only showing just 1 backbone.
Any idea to use HTB ?
Thanks before.

to ext3. /home/ftp/pub/ is ext3. I mounted
/home/ftp/pub/slakware/bare.i with loopback in /mnt/floppy/.

Horrendously slow transfer speeds in FC3 is driving me crazy!!! Please help...
...out $50 AU are ok for
home use but struggle when you want to put them in working situtations.
When trying to improve upon the 7 Mbyte/sec I found that nothing helped
at all. Compiling with different flags (O3, etc), made no difference
(cpu load very low anyway) Kernel made no difference (I used Slakware's
v.8, v.9 and currently use v.10) With or without Hyperthreading on the
P4 enabled (via custom kernels) made no difference.Different 100TX patch

It was the crap switch in my case.

both of them, but when trying to get DHCP to work with both, it kept
barfing.. so i used ip_aliasing on the external nic and put the "internal"

Windows98 fails with MDB and DBF files on Samba share
A big hello to the list!
I've installed since two years and since version 1.9.17 a Samba Server on a
Linux Box running Slakware 3.0 with kernel patched up to 2.0.34. This box runs
on the same network as a Netware 4.01 server and a NT server. All the clients
are Windoze95 and, unfortunately, now there are some Windoze98 systems as
well.
I'm saying unfortunately because up to now everything has worked very well
and I...

Samba + NT w/s freezes
I am running redhat 6.0 and samba 2.0.3. Apps are executed by the w/s but
datafiles and databases are stored on the linux server. Occasionally *all* of
my workstations freeze up, or are unable to see the info on the server anymore.
The drive mappings still exist, I can browse the drives, but the app won't run
on any workstation.
So far, the only way to clear this has been to reboot the

Samba & Win98
Hello everybody!
this is my second post, as nobody answered my first question. I think it was
too general, so this time I'll try to be more specific.
I've installed a Samba box based on Slakware Linux 3.0 kernel 2.0.34, samba
1.9.18p8. This box is installed in a small local network with a NT4 Server and a
Novell 4.01 Server. Clients are all Windows 95 except for two Win98 units.
Samba server has worked fine until Win98 appeared, then they started having
problems. The problem is related...

I saw this same problem going from a Slakware system to RH5.0. I
repaced
my SSH with an updated one and the problem went away. The old version
didn't use PAM and the new one does but I never looked into it any
further.

Problems compiling libraries with todays snapshot.
I am currently running Slakware V3.4 with g77 and R is a 0.62 snapshot of the 27th of May.
There appear to be linking problems with the libraries.
The error output from mva and eda can be found below.
My own libraries also have similar problems.
Errors when compiling mva:

Bind Failed on Port 139
I installed Samba 2.0.0 on a P100 running SlackWare Linux 96 (Kernel
2.0.0). After running configure, make, make install, and testparm, I
thought I was all ready to start up the smbd daemon. So I typed in
smbd -D -d 50
Got back a failure listing in the error log.
