-z and -B65536 causing file corruption in 2.5.5 w/zlib 1.1.4
When using the -z and -B65536 options together, sometimes there is file corruption. Client and server are both compiled against zlib 1.1.4, so the gzip corruption shouldn't be there, right? With -z and -B32768 there is an error, but it is detected in a different way. With -B65536 and without -z all seems to be going OK. With -B16384 and with -z all seems to be going OK. I'm guessing

hardlink bug in 2.6.4?
The background: I host one of the unofficial slackware mirrors & push to a high speed (unlisted) mirror that several other unofficials use for pulls. To save time/disk/bandwidth I use a custom script to hardlink the trees prior to pushing the updates to said unlisted mirror. The commandline (linewrap from hell, sorry): (note: username/password/hostname/modulename deliberately obfuscated)

log files - slackware
Does anyone use slackware with samba? And if so, are they able to produce 'log.nmbd' files? I can't. But I can do this just fine with RH8.0. By the way - my version of Slackware is 8.1 -- T.L.Gervais Coldbrook, NS Canada.

non-recursive remote listing breakage in 3.0.0pre1
It would appear something snuck in that breaks non-recursive remote listings when talking to a non-3.0.0pre1 version of rsync. The symptom itself is simple enough to see; rather than displaying member directories/regular files/symlinks/etc as one would expect, only non-directories (with the exception of '.') are listed. Other tidbits.. some obvious, some maybe not: - not limited to just

Wine not working, Slackware 10.2
Clean install of Slackware 10.2. Wine 0.9.20. Downloaded slackware package. Installed with KPackage via KDE, no errors. I have several Windows apps that I used under Wine with Slackware 10.0. I right click on executable, select Wine Windows Emulator, I can see in the process table Wineserver, wine-preloader, and wineprefixcreator(?). Then they all go away, and nothing happens. It doesn't

Re: Add support for slackware in supermin
Hi Pino, Thanks for your reply and details. I started looking at the others package manager code and as I see it there is one main problem to port supermin to slackware distro. Slackware builtin package management tools (pkgtool and slackpkg) do not manage package dependencies. There is no easy solution to solve this problem. There are third party packet manager which manage dependencies but

Bug/feature: Slackware + openssh 2.1 does not work
Hello. I've tried to install openssh to my Linux Slackware boxes, but it works only for connecting to other hosts. The bug is in the auth-passwd.c of pppd. Slackware has it's own (or just an another) version of shadow package (if I've understood the problem correctly) with it's own password encryption manner. I do not use stuff like Kerberos, PAM etc. As a result, the line

Not authentication on Slackware domain member
I've successfully set up a single-sign-on for a domain member using Ubuntu. Now I'm trying to do the same for Slackware. I've and installed kerberos and PAM and followed the instructions in https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_Samba_as_an_AD_Domain_Member. I can successfully do `wbinfo -u` and `getent passwd userID`. But, when I try to log I get: $ su - mark Password: su:

PORT BUG: openssh 2.3.0p1 in Linux Slackware 7
I'm running a Slackware 7-based Linux distribution. I had a problem using openssh 2.3.0p1. Slackware 7 uses shadow passwords. Openssh picks up the shadow password information correctly but doesn't encrypt the incoming password properly so all password authentication fails. The problem is that sshd *must* be compiled with the link flag '-lcrypt' which includes libcrypt with the

odd behaviour change (2.6.3 > 2.6.4pre3)
Synopsis: Prior to the 2.6.4pre versions, issuing 'rsync rsync://host/module/' behaved effectively as 'ls -l'. I've toyed with various options in an attempt to get an 'ls -l' style output, but to no avail. As I have a small handful of scripts that rely on this no-longer-functioning functionality, this could be considered a Bad Thing(TM). Following is an example of
