skypeforlinux lacks dependencies, won't update
For about a week now yum has tried and failed to update skypeforlinux: Packages skipped because of dependency problems: ??? skypeforlinux-8.10.0.4-1.x86_64 from skype-stable Processing Dependency: libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4.20)(64bit) for package: skypeforlinux-8.10.0.4-1.x86_64 Is there any resolution to this issue?

...should be no problems with dependencies > there... :) Thanks, I didn't know about flatpak... even tho it's in the base repo!? I have to admit though, after reading through the flatpak website about it, I still don't understand how it could overcome the dependency problem with the skypeforlinux update.? Grateful for enlightenment. > > On Sat, Nov 18, 2017 at 7:02 PM, ken <gebser at mousecar.com> wrote: > >> For about a week now yum has tried and failed to update skypeforlinux: >> >> Packages skipped because of dependency problems: >> skypeforl...

CentOS 7, skype ceased functioning
Hi, I have been using CentOS 7 on a laptop for a while now (about two years), using skypeforlinux all the time. After today's update, skype ceased to start as a service, as it used to be configured. It fails to start manually, e.g., it does start and is listed as a job, but it doesn't appear visible on the desktop. In the case you know something about it, please let us all know. Rega...

...h works fine but not with skype. it is as if it doesn't exist. So, when I connect to someone I can hear them, see them, and they can see me, but I'm producing no sound output. All the web hits I can find for nonfunctional microphone on the web are for Ubuntu. GAH! running ldd against the skypeforlinux binary results in a huge list of shared libraries, including libasound (which is what the ubuntu messages say is missing). Anybody got a clue?
