sk98lin Gigabit Ethernet
Is anyone using sk98lin Gigabit Ethernet adapters under CentOS 4.x?
The version of the driver that ships with CentOS 4.x kernels was too
old to support the onboard NICs on some Intel server boards that we
recently got, so we installed a newer driver using DKMS. However,
we're having problems finding a stable driver...

Help: Marvell sk98lin driver missing from Centos 3 PXE initrd.img
...BOOT/i386/ filled with the drivers
in the initrd.img file. Then I grabbed a copy of the vanilla 2.4.21-40,
went to Intel's website to grab the driver files I needed (turns out that
they were included in the vanilla source, hence a patch file of size 0 was
generated), and continued to build the sk98lin driver for i386 (I tried both
default settings processor type and i386). The first iteration through all
I did was make menuconfig and turn on Marvell as a module, the second time I
specified processor type as i386. I grabbed the sk98lin.o file and threw it
in /tmp/2.4.21-40.ELBOOT/i386/, where a...

Dlink DGE-530T on CentOS 4.7
Has anyone had any luck getting this to work? The kernel provide skge,
sky2 and sk98lin modules all fail to load.
I was able to download the latest version from the syskonnect.de site,
and with some hacking/klduging of their install script managed to
compile the module in there (a newer version of sk98lin, it seems)
which recognised the card... but this isn't really sustainable...

5.2 driver for Marvell Yukon 88E8042 PCI-E Fast Ethernet controller
Hello,
I'm trying to install CentOS 5.2 on an HP 6730s notebook.
All's going well except for one little item -- the networking. Never
thought I'd have trouble with an Ethernet adapter, so I didn't even
check before buying this machine; it was cheap.
The adapter is a Marvell Yukon 88E8042 PCI-E Fast Ethernet controller. I
can't find a Linux driver for it except one that

My setup is a kernel 2.4.31 with bridge-utils 1.0.4. The box

are eth[1-2] (router,dmz), eth0 is my intranet.
I use DLINK network cards with sk98lin driver.
Many thanks in advance.

NIC detection by anaconda
Hello all,
I'm not able to install CentOS in a motherboard with a onboard 3Com
gigabit nic (3c904/Syskonnect). Although there's a device driver for the
Syskonnect (sk98lin) in the linux kernel, the installation program is
asking for this interface module.
I tried to create a device disk, but without success.
Maybe I'm missing some information about the modules detection by the
installation.
How could I check the modules in the iso image ? or how could I insert...

hosts fail to negotiate 1000Mbps speed
...tel Corporation 82545EM Gigabit
Ethernet Controller (Copper) (rev 01)
and host 2 has:
05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8050
Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 17)
In order to get this controller work on host 2, I had to download and
install a more recent version of the sk98lin driver. Host 2 runs
CentOS 4. Host 1 runs CentOS 3 (with a stock e1000 driver).
After I setup networking, ethtool reported for both hosts that the
link runs at 100Mbps even though it says in both cases that the
capability for
1000baseT/Half 1000baseT/Full modes and exists and is being
advertised....

The semaphore timeout period has expired
Hello Hamish.
I found your message just googling for Suse and sk98lin.
Did you solve your problem?
I had the same case and only way to restore was to change NIS driver speed
settings from AUTO to 10Mb. And it was not related to OS as the same problem
is in WXP ( I have dual boot, ASUS P4P800, integrated GB NIS ).

Disable autoneg on r8169?
...come up properly during PXE boot:
r8169: eth0: link down
ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready
I can't use ethtool to disable autoneg because the nic driver is built
into a bzImage. The root fs is currently being mounted via nfs during
pxeboot at speed 10, half-duplex. In the past for sk98lin driver I
could pass a kernel module parameter sk98lin.ConType=100FD on the
kernel boot line.
I looked at the r8169.c and tried to hard code the default to autoneg
off but that didn't work.

how to inject a kmod driver from elrepo into kickstart
Hi All,
I have a marvel chipset for my wired laptop connection. It uses the
kmod-sk98lin-10.93.3.3-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm driver at elrepo.
I would like to use this driver to activate the wired connection to
kickstart my laptop as I have pxe booting set upon my home network.
Could anyone please enlighten me as to how to get the drivers/firmware
from this package loaded on my laqpt...

Detecting second network interface
Me again.
The ASUS P5N32-SLI motherboard in my new machine has dual NICs but
CentOS has only detected one of them. I've tried rebooting with the
network plugged in only to the second one, but kudzu still doesn't
find it.
Any suggestions?

3.1 on ASUS SK8V SATA problem
...lease forgive the length of my message. Also, great
work!
I'm trying to get Centos-3 running on an ASUS SK8V Opteron motherboard
in a way that is useful for me. I've had some success, but now I'm stuck
on a problem with the SATA driver.
Okay, so I got it up on the network by replacing sk98lin with the one
from 2.4.26. While I'm pretty confident that's not a supported thing to
do, the machine is pretty useless to me off the network. I know I could
throw a supported adapter in it, but it works as is.
By the way, my intention is to get a native amd64 distribution of Linux
running...

Compiling zaptel
I take it you are running RedHat 8 (or 9) since this is the most up-to-date kernel. Did you install the kernel-sources and kernel-util rpms as well? You'll need these in order to compile and install zaptel.

I don't think we can use this new MB since the Realtek 8111C does not seem to be

Several kernel problems
...type of motherboard
is Intel Desktop Board D925XEBC2 "BlackCanyon". The gigabit ethernet
controller is Marvell Yukon based (Syskonnekt) and stock kernel has
problems using it. It doesn't complain, lspci "sees" it (it's not a big
thing at all) but nothing under /proc/net/sk98lin/ (there should be an
eth0 at least). I upgraded the stcok kernel to the newer one, 2.6.9-11 EL
kernel but it doesn't work too. I tried to compile it as a module and to
compile the driver into the kernel.
After I downloaded the tar.gz and newest driver from marvell.com and
compiled it against th...

Is it possible that this is not actually a samba problem? (possibly a

Getting a Dom0 Kernel Version > 2.6.18 ?
As far as I work out the version of the Dom0 linux kernel has to be
2.6.18. This is causing me a lot of problem, because the driver support
in 2.6.18 is slowly falling behind, and I finding that more modern
hardware isn''t supported by the 2.6.18 drivers.
Is it possible to use a more recent version of the kernel for Dom0, or
am I stuck with 2.6.18?
Is there another way I can use more

State of Xen and bonding
Hello,
I''m trying to setup Xen on a machine with 2 physical network devices using
linux bonding without success. I haven''t received any answer on my question
on xen-users, the only discussion on this seems to be at
http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2005-10/msg01174.html
Could someone shed some light on state/ plans regarding Xen and bonding?
