Unsolvable segmentation fault
I cannot use wine with my windows partition. Whenever I try it , I immediatly get segmentation fault messagens (even when trying to run notepad.exe). If I modify the ~/.wine/dosdevices/c: simlink then wine seems to work well (but this is not a good solution, because I want wine to find programs and dlls in my windows partition). I use kurumin (a brazillian distro based on KNOPPIX. It is basically adebian testing) and the windows version is Windows 98 first edition (I use windows 98 solely f...

Serial port problem and strange solution (Fujitsu MCU development under wine)
...he list. I'm developing an application for a Fujitsu MCU (90364 series) using Fujitsu Softune6 Workbench in linux under wine. Everithing works well exept for the firmware serial uploader. It starts and sends some commands to the MCU but hangs with a timeout error (obviously I've correctly simlinked and chmodded the appropriate ttyS*). To investigate, I started the program again with the option WINDEBUG=+comm and ... incredible as it seems, the program worked *perfectly*. So, is there any technical reason why a serial communication program works well with wine in debug mode but does not...

Trouble with EZStream
...funny thing: THE FILE EXISTS! OK, so I re-install libogg, libvorbis, every library I could think of, re-installed ezstream itself (and Ices-CC, too, just in case), got it all nice and clean, then tried it again. I even thought there might be a problem with the fact that the content directory is a simlink, so I copied a file and modified its associated m3u playlist to point to something local, not simlinked: $ ezstream -c ezstream/dn.xml ezstream: Connected to http://localhost:8000/broadband ezstream: Streaming ``Democracy Now! - Democracy Now! Symlink outside the share path
.../datavol/asic path. The problem comes when they try to get to files that are softlinked to /globalscratch2 from /datavol/asic directories. I have tried this both with and without exporting /globalscratch2 via Samba. Same results. Previously, I had not exported /globalscratch2. If someone had a simlink that was like this: /datavol/asic/banshee/sim --> /globalscratch2/banshee/sim They would be able to get to it with this path no problem: \\myserver\banshee\sim Any non-symbolic link subdirs are accessible just fine like this \\myserver\banshee\localsubdir I have another scratch dir NFS mount...

zaptel make problems (long)
I know that this subject has been treated in the past! As a matter of fact reading some old messages about compiling zaptel I made a couple of tests after the first compiling failure to understand why I can't compile on a specific machine, but I do not know how to handle the results. The machine has SUSE 9.3, and an updated kernel (2.6.11.4-21.7-default; as shown below). YAST (the graphical

Another question about the tutorial
...Now, following the tutorial, I found a couple of things: First, apparently rails tries to establish local mysql connections using "/tmp/mysql.sock" which mandrake does not use. In mandrake 10.1, this file is located at "/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock". The solution is to create a simlink /tmp/mysql.sock -> /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock, but I wonder why rails doesn''t try to connect to localhost using TCP/IP if it can''t find the socket (emiting a warning, perhaps) Another question: I have a little mysql table which I''m using to test rails. It is named...

File and group permissions for incoming mails
Hello I am using Dovecot 1.1.1 together with Postfix (and for some users Procmail for Spam Filtering). Until now I didn't have to use shared mailboxes. Now I want to use simple simlinking to grant other users of the same group access to my mails. The problem is that new incoming mails have always file permissions set to 0600. I have also a file called dovecot-shared (0660) in the Maildir folder. No success. Why doesn't this work? I also tried to use UMASK in the procmail...

...only got offered a few choices - I think I clicked yes to all of them. I read in one post that the answer is to uninstall and re-install the graphics drivers - not sure how that will help, but how do I uninstall nVidia's drivers? I have a vague memory of someone posting about lib32 paths and simlinks or something.

Writing to the wrong directory
...l, it deleted everything else I had in /media/2tb/. I have since removed the --del, since it was there for reasons no longer relevant. /media/2tb is, as you might imagine, a mount point for a 2tb hard drive. The only way I can imagine this happening is if /media/2tb/bak/dancer-2010-11-29/ were a simlink to /media/2tb/. Which is madness. Or I guess I could have run it from the command line, but: darxus at dancer:~$ history | grep rsync 3471 man rsync 4997 history | grep rsync | less 4999 history | grep "sudo.*rsync" 5004 history | grep rsync darxus at dancer:~$ root's hi...

reiserfs, samba, symlinks and windows
I am having a hard time getting a Windows XP virtual machine to follow a symlink share to a localhost samba share with 'follow symlinks = yes' I have been googling this for a couple of hours now and have found some references but not definite fix.
