dcom98.exe fails to install.
I used the tool wine-config-sidenet from http://sidenet.ddo.jp/winetips/config.html which works great. I installed wine 20041201 as recommended and started wine-config-sidenet setup program and IE6 seemed to run great however, some URLs didn't work for example: www.arkia.co.il. Looking at the FAQ I noticed I should install dcom98.exe. When installing it I got windows popup stating:

wine and Real Rhapsody player
I am trying to make Rhapsody (the Real Networks music service) to run under wine. This guy, AmishGeek, says he got it to work: http://www.amishgeek.com/info/rhapsody But I don't quite understand all his instructions...and I tried sending him an email but his email box was full. I don't understand the parts about installing windows media ( my machine is dual boot XP, Suse 9.3 ). Does

open/save dialogs hang wine
Hello, I was really impressed when I managed to install IE6 and Office XP with wine 2005-01-11. They are even pretty stable. However, I have a problem which renders all ms office suite applications almost unusable (for new documents). Open and Save dialogs (those "modern" ones) just hang word/excel/powerpoint/whatever using them and the only way out of this is to kill wine. Does

Question on preparing WINE
I'm curious... Since we can no longer use winetools or sidenet to install Windows updates, components and other software (IE in particular) is there any other method for installing needed components including IE (other than IEs4Linux)? I suppose using IEs4Linux would be okay if I could incorporate it into my current wine configuration. But it seems to create it's own implementation of

PC Study Bible
PC Study Bible 4.2B and 4.2C have problems with the menus which are severely vertically compressed. Screenshot of problem: http://narnia.dnsalias.org/wine/PC%20Study%20Bible%20compressed%20menu%20flaw.png I am using Fedora Core 3. I tried all the winehq WINE RPMs between December and March. I think I used sidenet (not winetools) to install IE. IE and other programs work OK. The PC Study

Differents apps with different wondows version
Hi all, I was wondering if changing windows version for an app would affect its behaviour. I mean, I have an app that requires IE. So I used Sidenet script to install it. But it installs a Win98 version. So fat, my app no more claims for IE, but running it in Win98 config make it need a native comctl32.dll and though a native commctrl.dll. I was wondering if changing the app version to Win2K

Missing Toolbar Icons?
Hello all. It's been a long while since I posted to this list but here goes. When running the latest sidenet config I get no toolbar Icons in IE. Where the icons are supposed to be is just an empty space. (that you can still hover over). The console shows a fair amount of errors. Icon related error is: err:x11drv:X11DRV_CreateBitmap Trying to make bitmap with planes=1, bpp=32 This is a

backward step?
Running my jigsaw program, BigJig, under Wine-0.9.17, the screen looks like it did under early versions (0.9.12 and before), and all the jigsaw selection thumbnails have gone. This has been the case since version 0.9.15. I recall that I fixed the layout by installing fonts - something about the size of the fonts set the size of the buttons. I am running Sidenet, which links to the Linux fonts.

IE and Windows Media Player?
Does IE and Windows Media Player (any version) work with Wine 0.9.10 or the latest CVS version? If so, how to install? I've tried but failed: * With the latest CVS and sidenet-1.9.1, using option "IE6 with WMP6 installation", the IE setup fails with "The download location information is damaged". * With Wine 0.9.10, using the FC4 RPM: The same as above. * If I try

No Fonts
I've just installed wine after being away from it for a while (been using Cedega and CXOffice) and after using both winecfg and Sidenet Wine to configure and install, I have no fonts in dialog boxes and on Windows buttons. I've heard of this problem before, but can't find a solution. Can anyone offer a solution? Thanks Rick Knight

I'm using Wine 0.9.11~winehq1-1 on Debian Sid. I've been trying to install IE6 and MS Office 2000 for the last few days. As a side note, the only way I managed to install IE6 was through Sidenet. No luck with any other method (reg files, winetools...) Office 2000 installs, but when I try to run the program it says: warn:module:load_dll Failed to load module

I need to make some comment on WineTools
I just red the article on the website about winetools. This is controversy is a non starter in my oppinion. I believe that something like winetools should be included in the wine distribution to begin with. It should be something under the control of the developers themselves and bug reports should be added to fix any problems. Why did it take someone outside of the wine development team to

Internet Explorer and wine 20050930
I've managed to install Internet Explorer 6 using wine-sidenet-config, since it won't work just by type "wine ie6setup.exe". I had to copy the fonts to c:\windows\fonts from a working windows installation, otherwise you won't see the characters. The problem now is that ie can't reach sites like www.google.com. I've read that you should install dcom98 before that,

Weird Internet Explorer behaviour and one other mess
I'm kind of a newbie on the whole Wine deal and I'm close to flipping out on this problem I have, maybe it's happened to someone else (who can share his/her wisdom): - Internet Explorer can't open new windows. Be it javascript, a popup, or even if you click on 'File -> New -> Window' and if you try, it hangs. So it's practically unusable to me since the corporate

Error During Rhapsody Install
So I followed the advice about installing SideNet and it seemed to go ok. After that I upgraded to the latest Suse 9.3 build of Wine. Then I tried to install Rhapsody.exe It got to a certain point in the install and reported: MessageType = 2, MessageID = 3060 : Param = 100fixme:vxd:VXD_Open Unknown/unsupported VxD L"mcstrm.vxd". Printing through LPRng
At work I am attempting to set up Wine (20050725 with Sidenet) on an application server with Red Hat 8.0, and the programs we need are working well. However, the server has 28 printer queues for printers scattered around the network, and is running LPRng. I found documentation about creating printer ports that are tied to specific queues, but I haven't found any sensible means to make
