Accessing home directories problem (XP Home Edition)
Hi there, I have my Samba, set up and running. My users are add and should be set up right. The problem is when I can't access my home directories from Windows XP Home Edition <http://www.linuxforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=179059#>. It should give me a login box right? .. but its not. It just gives me the error message that I don't have access to the folder. When I manually add my home directory though in my smb.conf, then click on that directory from my windows box, it presents me w/ a login box. After I l...

[Feature-Request] syslinux in linux kernel format
Hi It would be pretty useful to have syslinux in linux kernel format so it can be chainloaded easy and directly by other bootloaders such as grub4dos. related topics: http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=7013 http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=6119&view=findpost&p=59236 http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=7077&view=findpost&p=59230 regards, -mr

Strange errors when opening YVD 9.0 RC1
...nd the program that I'm having trouble with is Yugioh Virtual Desktop 9.0, Release Candidate 1, Test Build 4 specifically. You can get the Beta 12 download (which you need since the Test Build download doesn't contain every necessary file) here: http://www.xerocreative.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29186 The Test Build 4 download can be found here: http://www.xerocreative.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31714 The problem I've been having is that upon running the .exe file, it loads up to the main screen, but then immediately pops up the following error: "Run-time error '445'...

Retuning compression levels
...; -8, -l 12 -b 4096 -m -r 6 -A tukey(0.5);partial_tukey(2);punchout_tukey(3) >> > This all sounds great! And I also suggested to consider a different setting for -7 preset: -7 == -l 12 -b 4096 -m -r 6 -A tukey(0.5);partial_tukey(2) see <http://www.hydrogenaud.io/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=106545&view=findpost&p=871797> But it will decrease decoding speed for this preset.

Re: samba Digest, Vol 76, Issue 10
Dear List, I wonder if somebody has a correctly working SMB service in Mac OS X Server 10.5.x. I've got here lots of "This process has forked.." and "Broken Pipe" errors as described in this post: http://www.afp548.com/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=22295 Would be nice if a Samba-guru could point us to the right direction. Thanks, Alex

2GB limit patch
Hi all, I was reading the discussion about this 1.3.0pre1 release on HydrogenAudio and someone linked an old thread in which one patched FLAC 1.2.1 to support WAV-files larger then 2GB. It might be worth investigating: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/?showtopic=84014#entry725304

...result on specific seek points. > otherwise, > everything is working honkydory. this is another good data point. I have been really short on time to look into this. there are also some other reports going on that you might want to follow along with: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?showtopic=19197 http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=851155&group_id=13478&atid=113478 I don't think the changes in CVS will help, but I still have Miroslav's improved seeking patch to try. FLAC: specifying all files with extension .WAV
Hi, I want to use the "flac" encoder (in commandline mode) and I specify this command to encode all .WAV files in the current directory: N:\WAV>flac -V --best -- *.wav flac 1.1.4, Copyright (C) 2000,2001,2002,2003,2004,2005,2006,2007 Josh Coalson flac comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. SAN arrays with NVRAM cache : ZIL and zfs_nocacheflush
Hi, I read some articles on solarisinternals.com like "ZFS_Evil_Tuning_Guide" on http://www.solarisinternals.com/wiki/index.php/ZFS_Evil_Tuning_Guide . They clearly suggest to disable cache flush http://www.solarisinternals.com/wiki/index.php/ZFS_Evil_Tuning_Guide#FLUSH . It seems to be the only serious article on the net about this subject. Could someone here state on this

Regain play analysis patches
Hello Earl, I used your patches while they cleanly applied to the Git tree. There is one question though, what do you think of?. http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=84086&st=0&p=782407&#entry782407 which apparently states (if I understand correctly) that your approach is not completely correct. Kind regards, Michael -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/flac-dev/attachment...

Also, shouldn't the changelog feature the 4GB windows fix? I remember reading about that bug fix at the start of 1.3.0, and I for one was incredibly excited about it. if nobody remembers it I can try to hunt down that patch on the mail list. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... [PATCH] PPC/Altivec removal
...patches, but they interfere with this ppc/altivec patch. (one of them changes lpc.h,another changes stream_decoder.c, etc). So I have to wait for your decision on this patch. BTW, one of them noticeably increases encoding speed of 16-bit files: <http://www.hydrogenaud.io/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=101082&view=findpost&p=870431> (version A is the current code).

flac alpha with RIFF/AIFF metadata support
just recently I have finished implementing support for saving non-audio chunks in RIFF WAVE and AIFF with the FLAC file in application metadata blocks, and restoring them when decoding. you can read about more about it here: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=56968 the zip file there has windows binaries; CVS HEAD has everything checked in if you need a different platform. if you have any such WAVE/AIFF files, I'd be interested in any feedback on how it works. note that this is an experimental version and should not be used for real archiving. a...

Fallen Earth Installer Will Not Complete Update
...Gentoo Linux 2.6.39 x86_64 AMD I followed the instructions on the Fallen Earth AppDB entry (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=19897), including installing winhttp.dll through winetricks. (Fallen Earth Mac/Wine Beta Client FAQ (http://forums.gamersfirst.com/index.php?showtopic=199045) has info on getting the client, trial accounts are available.) After entering account info the program downloads a base image of the game data (about 4GB) that brings the game system to version 1.9. Then it starts patching up to the latest version, 1.9.2. The program however never complete...

[PATCH] New apodization functions
...into the predictor. The predictor becomes very good at prediciting one part of the signal, instead of mediocre for the whole block. For more information on the whole window-thing, it might be a good idea to see this hydrogenaudio-post by Josh himself: http://www.hydrogenaud.io/forums/index.php?showtopic=44229 One thing to note is that this patch only affects the encoder stage that evaluates various possible predictors, not the actual coding stage. This patch only add the new windows to the codebase. My follow-up e-mail (Retuning compression levels) suggests one possible retuning of the compr...

Would Xiph be interested in a logo redesign for Vorbis?

We can also make it clear submissions on our private contest will give all rights over the logo to Xiph.org, to spare any future legal issues. And this is the thread that started it //www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=42429&hl= So, what say you, O Great Xiph Masters? May we go on with this? Regards, Ivo Emanuel Gonçalves
