Shoutcast compatibility suggestions
Hi:
Ok, I've not managed to find any documentation on the shoutcast
compatibility introduced in icecast 2.2.0, so please humour me if I
missunderstand how it's meant to work.
This is my understanding of it currently:
1. You configure Icecast (as shown in the shoutcast example) so that
shoutcast connections get mapped to the mountpoint you define.
2. You configure a listen socket

relaying IceCast from ShoutCast
Hi;
Has anyone successfully relayed an Icecast stream using Shoutcast? I
realize that this is backwards! However, several organizations that want to
use our streams use Shoutcast, I really don't want to setup shoutcast and
Icecast, but unless I can relay an Icecast stream with Shoutcast, I'm going
to have to.
Thanks,
Fred

Ices0 and ShoutCast (and KiSS)
I have successfully set up a system with Ices0.4 and IceCast2.20 (and
Tunez). It plays well using mpg123 or WinAmp.
But I would like to use also my KiSS DVD player for the stream, and I have
not been able to do so - It appearently needs 110% SHOUTcast
compatibility.
So I tried the IceCast2.3.1 - but it still didn't like the KiSS (or the
other way around). In stead, I have added a SHOUTcast

relaying IceCast from ShoutCast
I've been thinking more about this. It would be really nice if Icecast
could add a port to a mountpoint and emulate whatever information Shoutcast
requests when it relays a shoutcast stream. This way Shoutcast could relay
Icecast streams.

Shoutcast directory listing?
I think the message is pretty clear: The Shoutcast directory only lists
Shoutcast servers.
However, it would seem logical that if a Shoutcast server was setup to
relay an Icecast server (i.e. the Shoutcast source is an Icecast server)
then it would still be listed in the Shoutcast directory as normal.
I would assume that the goal of this kind of setup would be to gain a wider
audience.
However,

Shoutcast directory listing?
I've been reading posts on the difficulty in getting an icecast stream
listed in the shoutcast directory. Apparently, it is necessary to run
the shoutcast server to do this. Before I go down a cheeseless rathole,
I thought I'd pass this over this list to see what response I would get.

Shoutcast compatibility mode
Hi all, I'm working of getting a new station setup and will need to support
broadcast software that can only do Shoutcast (Winamp since the user can't
only stream in Shoutcast mode).
I have this in my icecast.xml:
<listen-socket>
<port>8000</port>
<shoutcast-mount>/live.mp3</shoutcast-mount>
</listen-socket>

Shoutcast Compatibility
Hi all, I have been Shoutcasting for six years now but am looking at using
an Icecast server because of its active and ongoing development.
I have broadcasters who use Shoutcast-compatible tools so the Shoutcast
compatibility is important to me. I downloaded the latest version of Icecast
and used the supplied configuration file for Shoutcast compatibility as a
template.
I can in fact connect

Ices0 and ShoutCast (and KiSS)
Hi,
The problem the other way around:
IceS -> IceCast -> ShoutCast -> KiSS
(the KiSS then decodes the mp3 to a RAW SPDIF stream, which is received
by my sourround receiver).
But the constallation is somewhat overkill and slightly unstable, so I would
prefer just
IceS -> IceCast -> KiSS
But that does not work at all for unknown reasons (since shoutcast can do
this, and the

Multiple Shoutcast Sources
Hi all,
I have set up a an icecast server and have a Shoutcast
DSP source connected. Is it possible to set up
multiple shoutcast compat ports and shoutcast mount
points. When I try to set up another port pair (8700
and 8701) and connect it says that the shoutcast mount
point (live.nsv) is currently in use.
I set up a seperate mount point in the <mount> config
and it also will not use the

registering icecast server in shoutcast directory?
I'm running darkice-0.15 to stream live mp3 encoded audio to
icecast2-2.2.0_1,1 on a FreeBSD 4.10 machine and everything is
working great. Now that I have my icecast stream server set up, I would
like to register it in the shoutcast directory. Is this possible? I
see the icecast.xml entries to register with the xiph.org and
oddsock.org directory servers, but I can't find any examples

Shoutcast directory listing?
This is absolutely not "off-topic" and if this list will not support
this VERY IMPORTANT discussion, then I will be happy to host the
discussion on a different list for those who are interested. I have been
trying to solve this for some time. Much of the problem so far has been
Shoutcast internal problems (on their site) which I assume are cleared
up now. My current assumption is it

shoutcast to icecast2 issues
relaying a shoutcast stream via icecast2 is pretty much unlistenable --
it constantly stutters.
for example,
shoutcast relay -- http://205.188.234.1:8030/listen.pls
icecast2 relay -- http://liveradio.indymedia.org:8001/sf-hifi.mp3.m3u

AOL/Nullsoft shutting down Shoutcast.com

The only viable alternative is Icecast and dir.xiph.org which could grow
fast after December 20 and become the standard for internet radio in the
future :-)
