Disk Layout for New Storage Server
...s connected to 4 shelves of 12 500GB disks each, yielding a total of 24TB of raw storage.
I''m kicking around the different ways to carve this space up, balancing storage space with data integrity. The layout that I have come to think is the best for me is to create a raidz2 pool for each shelf (i.e. 5TB per shelf of usable storage) and stripe across the shelves. This would let me lose up to two drives per shelf and still be operational. My only concern with this is if a shelf fails (SCSI card failure, etc) the whole system is down, however the MTBF for a SCSI card is WAAAAY higher than...

there more efficient way?
Given a data dataframe (input) and a category column (lst),

Tellabs Echo Canceller
I am getting ready to experiment with the Tellabs 2752 echo canceller. I have a 255D shelf (and power supply), but am struggling a little on connecting the echo canceller to a PRI.
The shelf has 4 25-pair amphenol connectors. The two on the line side are marked "Receive In" and "Send Out". The 2 connectors on the drop side are marked "Send In" and "...

[LLVMdev] Simple question on C program test coverage / dependence analysis
Hi all.
I am new to LLVM, and wondering are there any off-the-shelf tools for C
programs
for measuring testing coverage and simple dependence analysis (within the
LLVM framework).
Specifically, I would like to:
(1) measure which line is covered when executing a C program with specific
input values.
It likes a testing coverage tool, but I hope to get the li...

Headless Linux system for Asterisk
Because of space limitations and because of the location of the
punch-down blocks, my * server is located on the shelf in a coat closet.
Sadly, there is not enough space (or ventilation) for the monitor and
keyboard. This will all change when we move to new quarters, but...
Does anyone have experience running Linux/Asterisk without a monitor?
What, if any, are the issues?
TIA

Shelf plugin ignores current deformation and places window only on 'cube' face during rotation?
Guys,
Here is a potential bug that may need to be looked at. If the scale plugin is
used and deformation is set to cylinder, then when the desktop is rotated, the
self-sized windows are shown on the face of the cube instead of on the face of
the cylinder. The sphere deformation has the same problem. It looks really odd.
Here are a couple of screenshots showing this behavior:

T1 Hardware Echo Can
...elecom place I call, either never calls back or doesn't

with competent sales/engineer people who would help put together a
solution.
Also, for anyone that has hooked up a echo can before. Do you have to buy
such a large shelf? Obviously things things are intended for ILEC
installs, however, I can't find anything geared towards the PBX realm. It
seems everything on Ebay is a 32 module shelf rack. Thats a bit over kill
for us.
Further, I would imagine this setup. Please correct me if I am off base.
I would have a...

Document Management System in Rails
Hi
Is anyone aware of any Document Management System in Rails. Googling didn''t
help me find any Rails based solution.
The DMS I need, need to have the following feature apart form the usual
ones.
1. Version control of documents.
2. Tracking version control for each group of users independently from the
other group . These groups may share the same document name but may have
different

ZFS ok for single disk dev box?
Hi. I have a spare off the shelf consumer PC and was thinking about loading
Solaris on it for a development box since I use Studio @work and like it
better than gcc. I was thinking maybe it isn''t so smart to use ZFS since it
has only one drive. If ZFS detects something bad it might kernel panic and
lose the whole system r...

two tellabs 2572 echo board in a 253c mounting assembly?
...tall two, one always fails. I've tried all my cards solo in the enclosure, on each side, and they all work properly when only 1 is installed, however, when I install two, one of them will come up, but the other always fails. Anyone know what might be causing this? can't find any docs on the shelf thus far.
Thx in advance

asterisk on 64-bit?
Hello ppl,
Searched all over, but couldn't find anything conclusive.
Does an off-the-shelf version of Asterisk run without any issues on a
64-bit machine?
Does anyone have any 'conclusive' figures?
Apologies if this is a repeat question. Would appreciate if I could be
redirected to the appropriate link.

SOHO Serial Solution needed
Hi,
I'm looking to backup a small network (Hughes DW7000 satellite
modem, small consumer grade Internet Broadband router+wireless, Soekris
NET4801 single board computer + 4 port lan card, Cisco 2900 switch)
and want a small form factor (This is sitting on a small shelf) and
light.
The main thing I'm running into is that it *HAS* to be serial.
(The Soekris only has 1 USB port and I plan on using a 4G memory stick
and don't want it via a hub). I'm having a really hard time finding one
that seems to fit the bill, and then to know what serial cable...
