Strange error
I have been getting the following error everyonce in a while. Can
someone please suggest what could be going wrong with my system? It
happens about once every 3 weeks. I resolve this by rebooting my server,
although I never tried to figure out what is the real problem.

Does AJAX form_remote_tag remove "\r\n"?
When I submit textarea with "\r\n" inside its content, all the "\r\n"
are gone at the receiving end? Is there a known behavior I should be
aware off? Or should I start looking some where else.
Thank you,

file_column :: changing image with object.update
Dear all,
file_column now works fine with object.save i.e., it updates my
database field with the correct image file name and places the image
file into the correct public folder.
However, I cannot get file_column to work the same way with
object.update when trying to change image. It only updates my field
with the image file name. However, the new image is not copied into
the correct

Performance slow down with increasing log files size?
Dear all,
I have been noticing this.
Whenever I delete my log files and restart lighttpd, my rail site
runs very fast.
However when my log files become large, my rail site becomes slower.
Then I repeat the process of deleting log files again, and my site is
fast again.
Is this a normal behavior? Is there something I can do to make
performance scale better?

Ajax Form with Multipart File Upload in Rails 3.0
How would I achieve this? In Rails 2.x, I would use responds_to_parent,
but it seems quite unsupported now.
What plugins/gems do people use nowadays that would automate
1) targeting form to iframe
2) sending javascript to iframe
3) having the javascript execute another javascript on parent page
Thank you,
Sharkie

Strange Kernel for Centos 5.5
One of my VPS stopped working. After the data centre replaced a disk
normal service resumed, then I notices this:

I always thought Centos 5.x would always be on 2.6.18. Any thoughts?

Tracking who is online and what they are doing (Digg Spy)
Dear all,
What would be the best way to track who is online? Should I just add a
filter to all my controllers to track the last time each user commits an
action? Then I can deduce that whoever is active in the last 5 mins is
online.
Additionally, I can be more sophisticated and track the actual actions
each user commits. So I can have features like Digg Spy.
Or is there an already pre-built

custom routing in simply_restful
Is there information on how I can define custom paths/actions other than
these:
/users/new GET new
/users/id;edit GET edit
so for example I can have my own:
/users/log_in GET log_in
/users/id;process_log_in GET process_log_in
So far I cannot find any documentations on these at all.

Better Wiki solution than RedCloth
I am currently using RedCloth for my homebrew wiki engine. However I am
finding that I would like more sophisticated markup options ... probably
to the near sophistication of wikipedia. This is probably not the
limitation of RedCloth but rather the TextTile standard.
So my question is whether there is a better Wiki solution than RedCloth?
I am looking to be able to define 1) external links,

Embedding discussion onto a webpage
Dear all,
I have a digg-clone website. However, I want it so that when a user
clicks on a link (which links to another website), it opens up the link
along with embedded discussion (from my website). This is so that a user
can both view the link and also discuss it at the same time.
Are there examples of ways of doing this? I am interested in using Ajax
or Javascript to do this. I do wish

file_column: post processing to add or delete thumbnail sizes
Dear all,
I have been using file_column for sometime now, and have several
pictures which have all been uploaded by file_column. Now, I would
like to add more thumbnail sizes for various different purposes --
and perhaps to even delete the sizes I no longer use. Is there a way
to do this using file_column automatically? Or can someone please
point me out to a script or a hint on writing

Rails 3: link_to :remote => true with spinner
How is this most efficiently done? link_to_remote is gone.
I am using jQuery and am wondering how I could bind beforeSend call back
with my link_to :remote => true call. So that I can use it to draw
spinner.

Restricting size of an uploaded file, is how is that possible? If I

If I also would like restrict the types of files that can be

ACPI errors during bootup
Hi,
Am trying to build SMP kernel.
Took kernel-2.6.18-194.src.rpm, extracted, rpmbuilded with SMP option.
Successfully compile the new kernel and when using that kernel to boot up,
following errors were shown up(highlighted in bold & red color):
My kernel config file has ACPI and PCI configs enabled.
Any pointers to what caused the problem are appreciated.
