Desirable Properties of a Real Metadata Format
I suggest gzipped XML. Feel free to suggest something that isn't XML if you
dislike it that much.
Anyhow, as a practical matter, Vorbis-style metadata lacks a Really Good Way
to have the same data in multiple languages. Or at least a widely-agreed
upon way. So, howzabout...

what player for Mac OS 8/9?
The software page's only currently maintained Ogg Vorbis player for Mac-people is the iTunes plugin that seems to be for OS X only.
Is there no player for Mac OS 8 or 9?

Acknowledgemnts and some new stuff
Some new stuff in the directories horn and strings.
I am indebted to Nathan Sharfi for totally reorganizing the web page of
pan.zipcon. It was a heroic effort, as there was considerable mess.
Included were important help for Windows and Mac users, -- how to get free
music players and how to use wget for download. This contribution is a
milestone in the popularization of ogg-vorbi...

Bug in speexdec - is this the place to file it?
Hi!
I have found and (tentatively) fixed a bug in the Win32 version of
speexdec. Is this the place to post it, or... ?
Sincerely
Anders S. Johansen

Trying to Unpack the RC2 source code release
Hi
I'm trying to unzip the source code for the Speex Encoder, but I'm not
having much success. I've tried using WinZip (unregistered version 8.0) and
PowerArchive (version 6.1). Neither of them open the files
"speex-1.0rc2.tar.gz" or "refman.tar.gz". What am I doing wrong?
Many thanks
Jim

changes at pan.zipcon
1) A table of contents is in "LIST."
2) The tree has had some simplification.
3) 2 directories have been added: "wget" and "Windows." These
are put in to help in downloading.
Corrections to false assertions and other mistakes would be greatly
appreciated, as well as simplifications and improvements.

Fink's vorbis-tools patch
Thought this might be useful to at least consider being included in 1.0.1.
It adds, among other things (maybe), an endian variant of AIFF-C.

Flaming
Greetings,
I thought this was supposed to be a list for educated people to discuss
serious development of the ogg vorbis project. In light of that, it is
amazing to see the level Mr. Segher Boessenkool drops down to in the
last posts. More or less calling people insane and accusing them of
being on crack and what not. I didn't want to post this on the list,
for there is no reason to

Tag Recommendations Recommendations
Some suggestions for the recommendations on
http://reactor-core.org/ogg-tag-recommendations.html:
Add in a table of contents. Please.
Rename the title to "Vorbis-style Comment Field Recommendations" (change
capitalization to taste) to reflect that FLACs and Speex files could be
tagged according to this recommendation. Do note that not just Ogg (or, for
that matter, .ogg) files can use
