NAS and 2 active Samba servers / locking not working
Hi, I have one NAS which I can access via NFS or Samba. This storage is accessed by 2 linux servers with Samba where I re-export the NAS share. This is sort of an active/active loadbalancing cluster. The only thing not working is locking... If a client opens a Word-File via server1 and another opens the same via server2 it won't inform the user that he can only open the file readonly. I was

3.0.24 lock not releasing when file is closed
Samba version 3.0.24-4 on a Fedora Core 5 box. I've been working solidly on this for the last 2 days but don't seem to be getting anywhere. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I've found that once a file has been opened, smbstatus shows the file is locked as expected (see below) Locked files: Pid Uid DenyMode Access R/W Oplock

strang locking behaviour with macosx clients
I'm running a samba pdc on my gentoo box in a mixed environment with a couple of Windows XP clients and only a few MacOSX clients. The users told me, the file locking across the platforms does not work properly sometimes. I tried to google my problem, but without luck. I switched all the flags related the lock mechanism of samba on and off, but the problem seems to be solved yet. The only

GPO Create error
I have a domain that I upgraded from a Samba 3/LDAP set up about a year ago. I haven't done anything too interesting with it and it's generally been working OK. I attempted to create a new GPO for my domain. From a Win 7 client I get an error "This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object". Thinking this was an issue with sysvol acls, I ran "samba-tool

oplocks failed if user is not the owner of the file?
I have some identical windows 7 clients. All connected to Samba 3.5.4-1.1-2382-SUSE-SL11.0. If I'm the windows-owner of the file, swat shows me under "oplock" "exclusive+batch". Other users get: "none". What is the reason for this? ___________________________________________________________ Neu: WEB.DE De-Mail - Einfach wie E-Mail, sicher wie ein Brief! Jetzt

VFS full_audit sending spurious messages to syslog?
Hi, I'm currently running Samba 3.0.22 (on an Ubuntu 6.06 [Dapper] server). I have VFS full_audit set up successfully to log user activity using the LOCAL6 facility. I also have syslog configured to redirect all messages from this facility to /var/log/samba/log.audit This is working fine. However, I've recently been getting lines in /var/log/syslog that look like they're coming

Conversion error Illegal multibyte sequence in smbstatus
Hi, My output of smbstatus is bugged somehow in the Locked files section. For every line with a non ascii character, the whole string from the character to the end (included) is removed. Hence the line is attached to the next one. Here is a simplified example Locked files: Pid ... SharePath Name Time --------------------------------- 8910 ... /path

CTDB and locking issues in 4.4.6 (Classic domain)
Hi Ralph, I applied the patch to a new build of Sernet 4.4.6 SRPM. I could still open the file from both hosts, and in fact this time I could actually open it on the same host without any problems: host 1: smbclient -U ajc //172.31.0.120/ifa_v ... smb: \jmi\Corporate Accounting\ISL Ltd Accounts\2016\1609\> open "201609 213_ ISL Balance sheet variance analysis.xls" open file

Samba as AD-Controller: unable to update policies and call start scripts
Hi list! I have an Ubuntu 14.04 Server with Samba 4.1.6 acting as Active Directory controller. I worked 'till today, now I tried to join a new PC to the domain and it does not work... Problems: start and shutdown scripts are NOT called at all, logon scripts are called on the first PC, but not in the new one. The new PC did not receive the policies and did not mount the shares. gpupdate
