[PATCH] tools: specify datadir for qemu-xen build to fix firmware loading

# Parent 72e6530b29463f0913af365f5d085d94ff75627c
tools: specify datadir for qemu-xen build to fix firmware loading
qemu-xen does currently not find the firmware files, such as
vgabios-cirrus.bin. The reason is that qemu-xen uses the default prefix
/usr/local. Use SHAREDIR/xen/qemu-xen as directory so that it can coexist with
qemu-traditional.

Why does a W2K (pro) client do more than it is asked to do?
Desperate to find out why connecting to a samba
share(on an AIX server) from W2K is so slow, I tried
connecting to the same share from a Linux box, using
smbclient:
smbclient \\\\aixserver\\sharedir$ -U lynn
The results were amazing. The connection was so MUCH
FASTER then connecting from a W2K (pro) workstation:
\\aixserver\sharedir$ (in the Start|Run edit box)
When I examined the samba log files on the server, I
could see why.
The log file for the Linux client contained a single

[PATCH 0 of 1 v2] tools: honour --libdir when it is passed to ./configure
I''ve removed all the LIBLEAF bits in this version, but kept passing
the libfsimage plugin location via compiler command line.
If there''s a better way to do this, I''m certainly open to it. But
looking at it further today I think this isn''t too horrible.

pam_mount and winbind
Hi !
Has anybody already managed to make pam_mount and winbind working
together ?
I'm running a linux 7.2 box with samba 2.2.4.
I use winbind for user authentication from a win2k server (DEDALE in
domain VALBONE).
The following command works fine:
$ smbmount //DEDALE/SHAREDIR \
/mnt/smb/dedale/sharedir/ -o \
credentials=/home/win2k/VALBONE/slautier/.smbpw,uid='VALBONE+slautier',gid='VALB
ONE+Domain users',fmask=664,dmask=775
I've installed pam_mount (http://pam-mount.conectevil.com/) as I would
like domain users to automatically mount their home dir...

samba share
...tor.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Share directory is /data/services (owner = root / group = "Domain Users").
Sharing is called [services] in my smb.conf
If I change the name of share and the name of directory ([sharedir] and
/data/sharedir for example), everything is working properly. But if I
called it [services] it doesn't work.
So what does it mean ? Is 'Services' a reserved name ?! o^O
Thanks ;-)

make uninstall can delete xen-kernels
Nice time.
# make uninstall
...
rm -rf //boot/*xen*
...
if somebody use "xen" in kernel name (maybe as suffix), so it will be deleted from /boot/ too.
Thanks.

message, "System error 86 has ocurred" "The specified network password is

I have rebuilt the samba password file (smbpasswd.sh) from my /etc/passwd to
no avail.
The net command that I am using from NT is, NET USE X: \\ServerName\ShareDir
/USER:username, also I tried, NET USE X: \\ServerName\ShareDir password
/USER:username. Nothing seems to work.
net view \\ServerName works OK.
nmblookup works OK.
netbios-ssn is in Listen state.
I can connect directly from the AIX system using, smbclient

Bug#599434: xen-utils-4.0: create.dtd is missing
Package: xen-utils-4.0
Version: 4.0.1-1
The Python code in /usr/lib/xen-4.0/lib/python/xen/xm/xenapi_create.py
tries to validate an XML configuration against a missing "create.dtd"
DTD file.
The code expects at SHAREDIR/xen/create.dtd (SHAREDIR is "/usr/share"

In the Xen source distribution the missing file can be found at

smbwrapper or smbmount ?
Hi !
The O'Reilly "Using Samba" book, recommend not to include smbmount
support as it is for Linux only:
"This feature wasn't being maintained at the time the book was
written, so the Samba team made it an optional feature and provided
smbwrapper instead. The smbwrapper feature works on more Unix
platforms than smbmount, so you'll usually want to use

[PATCH 0/2] A few Arch Linux specific changes
I''m attaching a few changes that are specific to Arch Linux and are motivated
by our recent switch to systemd.
System V init scripts are no longer used/supported on Arch Linux and,
therefore, the Arch Linux init scripts can be removed from Shorewall.
The two patches that follow are based against master; if it''s possible to
apply them to the upcoming Shorewall 4.5.13 as well,

PDC error; can not open passdb database
I am looking to setup a domain server. I have tried and tried and this is the closest I have gotten so far.
The main problem I have is in the user authentication. I am getting an error that the user or password is wrong. Currently it looks like Samba can not access the passwd file. What is this file?
My log for the client give this error:
