rsync 3.0.9 hangs when syncing from NFSv3 share - possible to retry after timeout?
...eserver's filesystem is ext4. The NFS shares are mounted on the backup server as follows:

Password for suser@//srv/Share3: ****
Retrying with upper case share name

Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

msdfs for local redirects?
...le to access shares by the department they belong to. Thus the
users need only one drive letter and not many in their windows
explorer.
To accomplish this I tried the msdfs approach and it's working very
nicely.
on serverA:
share1 -> msdfs:serverA\share1
share2 -> msdfs:serverA\share2
share3 -> msdfs:serverA\share3

I'm just wondering if I will introduce unnecessary overhead by
exporting _local_ shares this way?
The shares have different permissions and not all of them share the
same config options. Thus I would like to keep them as separate shares

samba group access
Dear All
I have a question from you, if you can please answer it.
I have a linux server, with samba installed on it.
I have 3 groups as, GroupA, GroupB, GroupC
Each group is having let suppose 10 members from 0-9
I have 3 shares on my smb.con as Share1, Share2, and Share3

DFS share: free space?
Hi,
is it possible, to use DFS and show the correct values of free space?
I set up a DFS-share located on filesystem1 (size 50GB) and linked shares of another server to this share
(msdfs:<fs>\share):
share1: size 110TB
share2: size 50TB
share3: size 20TB
But connecting to the DFS-share, the disk size of this network drive ist 50GB. Unfortunately files larger than
50GB can not be copied to the network drive .
Any ideas?
Thanks and best,
Alex

Active Directory + Samba 3.0.10 -> how to deal with owners and permissions
Hi.
I've a running samba system that works with a ADS auth. All looks like to
work. I can get the list of Domain users and groups (wbinfo -u, wbinfo
-g), and "getent passwd" works too.
Now I want to share a directory(or volume) and that the
DOMAIN/Administrator be the owner of this share to get the control of it.
I don't know how samba deals with resource owners and

Photoshop "Disk Full" error, a linux filesystem NOT Samba issue
Hi all.
Thought you would all be interested to know that i, like many others, am
experiencing issues with Samba and Photoshop 7.0.
The problem is specific to Photoshop 7.0 when saving files to a Samba
share via a W2k/XP OS.
Users experience a disk full error when saving from Photoshop but have
no issues copying/moving etc files to/from the share outside of PS.
Well, after some testing, the

universal netlogon script
Hi Guys,
Advise, I have 200 users, they all have access to 20 shares in different
combinations. They all have their own netlogon scripts... its a management
nightmare,
is there a way to create a universal netlogon script that I can include all
the shares to mount and it will silently fail on the ones it cant? Perhaps
there is a smarter way to implement this idea,
lynching is welcome, so is
