sample size for linear regression
Is there an R function that can be used to calculate a sample size for a linear regression: i.e. Given a linear regression: y=f(x,z) i.e. fit1<-lm(y~x+z) is there a function which can be passed coef(z), SE(z), and other parameters to determine a sample size based on z, SEz and other information from the regression? ...he lambda, and just ask it to verify that the route does exist (which *should* fail), I get the same result for those :except actions as for a made-up action name. Portable R in zip file for Windows
I read a message from 2009 or 2010 where it mentioned the availability of R for Windows in a zip file, no installation required. It would be very useful for me. Is this still available somewhere? Thanks [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

winbind: BUILTIN\users group gid 1001 conflict
Hi everybody, I've joined a fileserver running samba 3.0.24 to an AD domain using winbind and noticed that samba maps the "users" group SID (5-1-5-32-545) to gid 1001 automatically. This seems to conflict with one of ~2000 mappings I had to "inject" in winbinds winbindd_idmap.tdb by use of net idmap dump/restore, because the fileserver had millions of files with

...etbooting for a while. Since we use Kickstart and SystemImager to load OSes on our systems, a system has to be able to netboot before it can be made available to folks for project use. System BIOS is the current one, v1.08. They're booting from a planar BroadCom Tigon3 adapter. BIOS message sez: UNDI PXE-2.1 (build 082) v3.1.15 Several other systems use the Tigon3 planar adapters just fine. I've been able to load Red Hat Linux 8.0 from CD on both systems. But when I try to netboot a Red Hat 8.0 kickstart kernel, the system hard-locks. I've just verified that the boot kerne...

I am using procmail with deliver as recommended on the wiki to send mail snagged by SpamAssassin straight to a spam folder. It seemed to be working fine, but now I'm finding messages like this: Sep 17 12:13:47 hosty deliver(whoey): write() failed with mbox file /var/mail/whoey: File too large I don't think this is a setrlimit problem -- the host operating system is OpenBSD 4.0. Meta-Analyisis on Correlations
Dear R-Community, I'm currently trying to find a way to conduct a meta-analysis in R. I would like to analyze data from mostly-cross-sectional survey-studies. The effect sizes would be correlations. The R packages "meta" and "rmeta" are, as far as I can see, set up for analysis with effect sizes for differences (i.e. comparison of the means/odds-ratios of experimental
