Router for SOHO network - hardware considerations
Hi,
Last week I finished installing a small network in a private school :
one server (an old IBM X225), seventeen desktops (Fujitsu Siemens PIV
2.4 GHZ, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB HD), all running CentOS 5.5.
One extra machine is acting as a router, in that it is installed between
the DSL modem and the network, with two Ethernet cards, and it's taking
care of DHCP, DNS, NTP and also acts like a proxy (with Squi...

Voicemail.conf : concise hour prompts
...(*note: not standard strftime value)
; q "" (for today), "yesterday", weekday, or ABdY
; (*note: not standard strftime value)
; R 24 hour time, including minute
Is it me or it's not possible to hear something like :
"seventeen hour fifteen minutes" ?
I can't get rid of "am" or "pm" prompts : both k, R or combinations fail.
Regards

use dns domain for certificate
Hi,
I''ve noticed that facter.domain under linux returns the dnsdomain, and under
solaris it returns the LDAP/NIS domain, as this it self is not a problem, I
was assuming that puppet first certificate request is based on that fact.
as this is not big issue, I would prefer that puppet will request the
certificate with the dns name and not the LDAP domain name... any idea how
to implement

Super HIGH CPU usage
I am using puppet 0.23.0-1 from Fedora Core 7 for a while and just
realized that puppet use over 90% CPU every 30 minutes for about
10minutes. Anyone has the same issue?

I want to generate an indicator variable to mark the observations used
in estimation: 1 for a row not deleted, 0 for a row deleted. In this
case I want an indicator variable that has seventeen 1s, one 0, and
then 2 1s. I know I can do ind = !is.na(group) in the above example.
But I am ideally looking for a way that allows one to use any formula
in lm, and still be able to mark the estimation sample.
Function/option I am missing? The best I could come up with:

Delay between DTMF Down & Detected Digit
...ew of our inbound
callers are ending up in the wrong place when trying to connect to a
specific extension. The example I had this morning was someone trying to
call extension 212 and getting connected to the Sales queue which is
option 2 on the IVR. I looked in our log and it seems like there was a
seventeen second delay between the caller pressing the last 2 and when
Asterisk acknowledged it. By that time, Asterisk had decided that "21"
wasn't a valid extension and the subsequent "2" dropped the caller into
the Sales queue.
I did my best to search for this issue in the archive...

I got it from the contrib.redhat.com
Also, I should mention that I used smbmount to mount it in this way.
smbmount \\\\three\\cd-rom /mnt/cdrom/
but I have tried stuff like this as well.

Dovecot and Postfix Authentication
I am a student and am trying to get a mail server setup for a project. I
have all of the Postfix configuration taken care of, but I am confused by
the way that authentication works with Dovecot in the mix. As a user of the
system, am I supposed to authenticate myself to Postfix, Dovecot, both
individually, or both together? My Postfix users are stored in a PostgreSQL
database, should Dovecot also

Trailing commas [best practice survey]
I''m sure everyone has read and committed the Puppet Best Practice to memory
by now (I joke). One of the things I''ve written in there deals with
trailing commas, which I adopted from the way I used to do multiline in
Perl, but I''ve noticed that most people don''t tend to do that in Puppet.
Should I revise this or should we all start using the trailing commas?

format numbers as words
Does anyone know if there is a function available which can format any
entered number as words?
eg: ''1234'' would be ''One Thousand Two Hundred and Thirty Four''
In the past, I would have said this is a tall order, but from what I''ve
seen with playing with rails for a short time, I don''t know what to
expect. :)
Thanks for any help,

Cron jobs not removed when deleted from Manifest
I''m not sure if this has been posted previously, but I couldn''t find any information on it.
I added a cron job via the cron type and it installed properly. Next, I removed the cron type from the manifest.
The result was that, while the entry was no longer in the yaml file, the cron entry was not removed!
Is this a bug, or the way that it is supposed to function?
Thank you,

tftp with pxelinux.0 from syslinux 4.10-pre17
Hello everybody,
setting up a netboot server for a really huge network I decided to go with
what will be syslinux 4.10 to get support for http transfers.
The setup works on my notebook, booting another notebook directly connected.
However it fails with a more complex setup: A virtual machine on the
second notebook bridged to the ethernet device does not boot, systems from
other networks with a

Feedback from VON expo! Info on * HA andPolycomphone!!
Great Email. I'm going to respond to some of the points.
"Q: What are the plans for HA?
A: With a configuration using DNS-SRV and DUNDi, you can create a
pretty resiliant setup now."
That's BS. Last time I checked, Asterisk's support of SRV was to only grab the first SRV entry. Period. If it doesn't try any more SRV hosts after the first fails, just exactly how

Testing modules
There''s definitely enough complexity in some of the modules out there to
warrant solid test coverage, especially if people start extending a module
to support more distributions and OSes, while trying to keep the existing

facts, and native types. They''re *really* in need of solid testing, being

English vs American voice files
My wife's got an appropriate Southern England (Wimbledon) accent and I'm
sure she would try her hand. Does anyone have a comprehensive list of the
words that need to be said? Matt, do you have them if your wife's done a
set for French users?
Mark, if you have the kit maybe you could chop up the file? I write a
utility to chop up and compress the wave file based on some of the C
