Cross-checking a custom function for separability indices
Hi list! I have prepared a custom function (below) in order to calculate separability indices (Divergence, Bhattacharyya, Jeffries-Matusita, Transformed divergene) between two samples of (spectral land cover) classes. I need help to cross-compare results to verify that it works as expected (since I don't know of any other foss-tool that will give me quickly some results). Does anybody

loading and manipulating 10 data frames-simplified
I have to load 10 different data frames and then manipulate those 10 data frames but would like to do this in a more simplified code than what i am doing. I have tried a couple of approaches but cannot get it to work correctly. So the initial (bulky) code is: #Bin 1 #------- #Loads bin data frame from csv files with acres and TAZ data Bin1_main <-

R2HTML doesn't split paragraphs originating from \Sexpr[results=rd]

quiry on paste() function
Hi all, I want to club different objects (character type) to a single one and using paste() function that can be done happily. However the problem with paste function is the separator field is unique for all underlying objects. If I put separator as "-" then this will come in between all underlying objects which are to be clubbed.   Therefore I am wondering whether there is any mechanism to put different separators for different places. Trivially this can be done by ap...

binomial GLM quasi separation
Hi all, I have run a (glm) analysis where the dependent variable is the gender (family=binomial) and the predictors are percentages. I get a warning saying "fitted probabilities numerically 0 or 1 occurred" that is indicating that quasi-separation or separation is occurring. This makes sense given that one of these predictors have a very influential effect that is depending on a

FC6 and winbind separator ignored?
I'm trying to join my FC6 box to our Active Directory domain. For the most part the setup was pretty straightforward, but it just doesn't seem like winbind separator is being honored. When I do a 'getent passwd' I get the following: AVWORLD\johnXXXX:*:16782801:16777216:XXXXXXXX:/home/AVWORLD/johnXXXX:/bin/bash AVWORLD\liliXXXX:*:16782802:16777216:XXXXXXXXXXX:/home/AVWORLD/liliXXXX:/bin/bash AVWORLD\juliXXXX:*:16782803:16777216:XXXXXXXX:/home/AVWORLD/j...

Winbind separator char causing make_server_info_from_pw failed errors
Hi all- In migrating from 3.0.2 to 3.0.8 on a box that's an ADS domain member, I had a relic line in smb.conf like this: winbind separator char = - With 3.0.2, users connecting wouldn't have a domain and separator char component, so spnego kerberos replies to the 2003 domain controller would be fine. In 3.0.8, users connections would have the domain and separator char for spnego kerberos replies and if the separator is something...

function using values separated by a comma
Hello, I have a dataframe (tab separated file) which looks like the example below - two values separated by a comma, and tab separation between each of these. How do separate ZFS filesystems affect performance?
I''m working with a Cyrus IMAP server running on a T2000 box under Solaris 10 10/09 with current patches. Mailboxes reside on six ZFS filesystems, each containing about 200 gigabytes of data. These are part of a single zpool built on four Iscsi devices from our Netapp filer. One of these ZFS filesystems contains a number of global and per-user databases in addition to one sixth of the

Read in a all-character file and specify field separator and records separator
Dear list I used to use python or awk do preliminary process and then feed into R. In some circumstances, the data transmission becomes quite a pain. I am wondering if there is a convenient way to read in R text file (not data, text file in common sense) and specify field separator and records separator, so the whole work can be reduced to one-stop shopping. or simply, is there one simple way to read in the text file with each row in a single column. scan(....sep="\n") does not work as expected. Thanks yong

separating a digest into separate messages
Could someone suggest a mail reader that will parse a digest from r-help into separate messages? Preferably, this reader would allow replies or forwards of separate messages. I use pine on a Sun running SunOS 5.7. If there were an add-on to pine that would accomplish this task, that would be even better. Anne ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Anne E. /boot on a separate partition?
FWIW, we don't use a separate partition and haven't had any issues (we do set up / as a separate partition only 5GB large). We have over 150 systems that have been chugging along with many versions of CentOS this way for years. We only use ext3,4 filesystems though. And no volume manager. Using a backslash as winbind separator
Completly separated from the other thread I have a minor question about the "winbind separator" configuration. If I want to use the \ as a separator (and I do), how should this be reflected in smb.conf? The only thing which came to my mind and worked is quoting the backslash with another one: | winbind separator = \\ Only trouble is that testparm(1) returns: | ERROR: the 'winbind...
