domain administrator
Well, I got my shares problem figured out. I am glad. However, now, I need to do remote installs of my norton antivirus. I can't do it from my machine without being an administrator on these machines. I am not an administrator when logged in as anything. I even set up a account for root, with no success. How do you make a user a domain administrator?

VM notification to multiple email recipients
Hi all, I've got a user who wants to receive voicemail notifications at two different email addresses. I could probably setup an alias in /etc/aliases, but then I'd have to manage that across multiple servers, which I don't want to do. Is there a way I can tell Asterisk to send to multiple addresses? PDC BDC should I or shouldn't I?
Hello everyone I hope this is the right place to post this question. I have all but eliminated all Microsoft servers in my current work environment, expect two boxes, which are our PDC and BDC, they also are the DNS, Dial in With Rocket Port Card, DHCP, Winslookup servers. I would like to remove these NT boxes and replace them with a nice shiny new Linux box running Samba. Reading some of

share level access and Windows XP
I am the tech coordinator in a small public school in rural North Dakota and all of last year I ran Samba on redhat 8.0. I had XP machines that used Samba as the PDC. Worked fine. But now I am getting some XP home machines that cannot log on to a domain. That's okay, because I am determined this year to use solely redhat. In fact, I put the partitions down to 5 gig for Windows and

[7-STABLE] ping -s 4000 with ipsec panic
[FreeBSD 7-STABLE/i386] Hello, I've got a 100 % reproductible panic with ipsec when using a 'ping -s 4000'. It works without ipsec My ipsec setup is very simple, i just use setkey: /etc/ipsec.conf flush; spdflush; add 192.168.1.21 192.168.1.200 esp 1011 -E rijndael-cbc "0123456789012345"; add 192.168.1.200 192.168.1.21 esp 1012 -E rijndael-cbc

Heads up: panics should be fixed!
As others have noted, Tor's patch appears to be a total solution to the recent instability the PAE patch introduced. So, if you're experiencing panics with a recent kernel, or are in a position to stress a machine, please cvsup and give it a test! machine accounts
Well I thank everybody that helped me get swat working. I am very thankful. Now, though, it seems I have more problems. When I try to join my samba domain, my XP box says "a domain controller for the domain edith could not be contacted." Okay, well, after reading up on things in this list, it seems that I need to create a machine account. I didn't have to on my NT box. When I

Network Latency
Hiya, I''m trying to track down some throughput latency that our customer seems to be attributing to our product, I can''t see what he''s talking about, but I want to try and get some deeper granularity than I might get with something like smokeping, and maybe even see if its down to something tunable on our end. I''ve been looking for some examples on how

Hwo to disable the polling function of mac_srs
In crossbow, each mac_srs has a kernel thread called "mac_rx_srs_poll_ring" to poll the hardware and crossbow will wakeup this thread to poll packets from the hardware automatically. Does crossbow provide any method to disable the polling mechanism, for example disabling the this kernel thread? Accessing Shares with WXP Pro
Let me rephrase my question: How do I access shares with WXP Pro. I don't want to be part of a domain. I just want to be able to search for the server from the computer, map a network drive to a share, and then life will be good. With that said, right now I can find the server. I can double-click it. But what comes up is a login box that only lets me put in a password. The

Doesn't require a password
Here is my problem: Previously, I was using Samba as a PDC and everybody logged in with WXP and then they had roaming profiles and all was grand, except sometimes my students had really big pictures and such being saved to their "My Documents." That's bad. When it came time to log off, other students sometimes had to wait 20 minutes. A Bad thing. So, this year, I scrapped
