compare c-index of two logistic models using rcorrp.senc() of the Hmisc library
Dear R-help,
Would it be appropriate to do the following to
calculate a p-value for the difference between c-ind
of x1 and c-inx of x2 using the output from
rcorrp.senc()
> r<-rcorrp.senc(x1,x1,y)
> pValue<-1-pnorm((r[11]-r[12])/(r[2]/r[5])*1.96)

Change the background in a div with CSS
hello everybody,
i''m just trying to know this RoR better. And I have a question:
- i have a <div> in my scaffold.css and it has a background image. I
actually have 5 background pictures and i''d like to use one of them

(where i can do the random pick with ruby?) or is there any other way?

IA32 and NASM
Is Nasm always available when the target architecture is IA-32?
For example, FLAC has FLAC__lpc_compute_autocorrelation_asm_ia32_sse_lag_NN() functions
that require NASM presence, and FLAC__lpc_compute_autocorrelation_intrin_sse_lag_NN()
functions that require x86 intrinsics support.
FLAC makes use of the former (if NASM is available) but doesn't try to use
the latter when NASM is not found.

data.frame extracting data row-wise
Dear All,
I am struggling with extracting data from a data frame:
x=data.frame(a=1:11,b=100:110)
What I want is a list/vector in this sence: 1 100 2 101 3 102...
For single rows, this works fine:
as.matrix(x)[1,]
For, say 2 rows, this works fine:
z=c(as.matrix(x)[1,],as.matrix(x)[2,])
But
z=c(as.matrix(x)[1:2,])
gives 1 2 100 101!?
Is there an 'automated way' to produce a

Memory use and a few other things
Hello,
First of all thanks a lot for working on this free nvidia driver.
1.) I am using Fedora9-Beta, and on my NV17/64mb (or NV18?) powered
Laptop the nouveau driver uses about 300mb RAM. Is there any way I can
decrease that?
2.) Font rendering is very slow. running "x11perf --aa10text" I only
get 40k glyphs/s.
Is there any way I can improve text performance?
3.) I would like to

OT: Collaboa on Debian
I am running a subversion server (on Windows) but I would like to run
Collaboa. I am pretty familiar with the Linux world (not in a developer
sence) and I am having problems with installing the prereqs for
Collaboa. I have read the article "How to install Collaboa on Debian"
but it doesn''t seem to work for me. Has anyone gotten this working and
can help?

Problem with overloading add type casts of numeric strings in PHP bindings
Overloaded methods are mapped in PHP to their implementation (_SWIG_0,
_SWIG_1, ..) based on the types and number of arguments the user supplies.
However, if one overload accept a string and another an integer the bindings
fail to separate them since PHP treats numeric strings much the same as
integers.
The problem is illustrated in WritableDatabase_replace_document() which

Changing root journal data mode
Hi,
I'm running 2.4.9-ac7 with ext3 compiled in, and I ran across this problem.
Now that I look back, it makes sence, but it wasn't obvious at first...
I wanted to change the journal mode on my / partition, so I changed my fstab
to:
/dev/hda1 / ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro,data=journal 0 1
as well as several other partitions, and rebooted.
After rebooting I had a read only / that I

win xp sp2. It just disappears from network neighborehood in about 15-20 minutes

using VSS on a samba server - no smb locks ?
Hi all,
We are considering moving our VSS database from a Win2K server to a samba server.
All clients are Win2K clients.
I used the VSS tool "testlock.exe" to make sure the native lock mode can be used.
The test was successful, and I saw that an SMBlock transaction was performed, and a reply_lockingX was replied.
When I opened a VSS database on the samba server and started to use it -

I''ve set up a Linux box with redhat on to act as an internet gateway and I''m running into a few problems. Its got two adsl modems connected to it, both connected to seperate 512kbs lines. Now I''ve followed the simple source routing in the advanced routing howto to the letter but it doesnt work.
I''ve got it autoconnecting on startup and redhat puts ppp1

Canvas Tag + Rails Ajax
Hi all,
Just looking for a quick sanity check. I was thinking of writing a
plugin for rails to give rails developers a good way of using the new
firefox 1.5/safari canvas tags. I was thinking of grabbing an
existing ruby graphics library and modifying it so that it renders
via the canvas tag..
So you could have link_to_remote pointing to controller actions that

Re: Bug#390862: -bigmem version of xen kernels is really needed
What about idea not to *add* pae versions of xen kernels, but to *replace*
non-pae versions with pae versions?
Rationale:
- not increase in archive size or linux-2.6 package build time,
- this will improve compatimility with other distros (consider scenario
when running FC or RHEL in domU; these distros do ship only pae xen

I am fighting this for 3 days and could not find any reason it is not working
