...the same as the next 8.04, which seems bizzare to me, which is why probably i cant get my game to work. and i thought the people in here were cool and helpful, and all i have seen is emptiness, is that because people dont want to bother helping the less knowledgeable or perhaps they dont know them selves or is it simply that no one can be bothered lately? i have unstalled wine but it is still there, i have tried all sorts of help/tips and still no go... the best i had it was when game was running but the character screen was black, but since then from trying different things, its gone to shit again

Random Intermittent Noise for SIP to FX0 calls plus echo
...in the ear of the SIP phone user. The other side (PSTN caller) of the conversation may hear a few short (half second) breaks in the conversation. The characteristics of the interference in the SIP phone user is some in-band MF tones which may start out faint and get louder which are broken up them selves to make a cracking noise. There may be some momentary echo of my voice when this happens also. This may last for about 3 seconds and then the conversation is clear. We don't get this when using Analog phones on an FXS port nor for SIP to SIP conversations. Has anyone else experienced this an...

YET Another echo issue PRI CARD Any help accepted :-)
...k Box via a T100P card. When I initiate a call out to phone number 123-8888 the call sounds great no echo what so ever. If the person at 123-8888 hangs up and calls me right back (same handset on both sides) same trunk line The call always has echo on it. The Asterisk sip extension hears them selves echoing. The remote party does not notice any difference. I have tried all the following. #define CONFIG_ZAPTEL_MMX <tried this defined and undefined> Then tried each of the following types of echo cancellations. #define ECHO_CAN_MARK #define ECHO_CAN_MARK2 with a...

vorbis ogg vs. aac
Hi folks: this is my second question at this list and I wanted to mention that with answers and guides I got from 2 persons last time, I got a quite low rate stream in vorbis ogg, in about 5 minutes after reading what you wrote- Thanks! Well after that, I pointed my attention to the so called AAC, and after tweaking a bit I got my AAC stream up and connected to Icecast serv. I was a bit

How to get TCP access to CDR Master.csv
...they are coming in (being generated). I can't find this as a "feature" of the standard Asterisk... but maybe I'm missing something? The closest I could get is something around the manager api but it's not really what I'm after. I'd like to access the CDR's them selves. Being a (more or less) novice Linux user the only thing I can think of is trying to do this using Perl scripts where it would set up a listening socket and when connection is received it would do something like (in princip, not managed to do this properly yet): ... print $connection `tail...

Resuming the discussion of establishing an LLVM code of conduct
...anyone prove that, just writing "we don't condone abuse, let us know" is in *any* way (including legal) worse than a text that was written by someone else and people seemed to like? Unless we have clear answers to those questions, Occam's razor tells me we should just be our good selves and show people with behaviour, not words, how nice we are. cheers, --renato

trouble installing icecast
Hello - I'm not a Unix guru, but I can get around okay. I'm trying to build icecast on my system, but when I run the configure program, it ends with the following error: "XSLT configuration could not be found" I could send you the config.log, if that helps. I'm not sure how to solve this error -- can you provide any pointers? I do have libxslt.so on my system. Much

vorbis ogg vs. aac
Standard AAC is on a par with Ogg Vorbis in my opinion, but it depends what type of encoder you are using as there are several. The only "free" encoder I know of doesn't use all the AAC techniques to provide the best sound quality and is worse than OV. The thread I started the other day was about AACPlus and not AAC. AACPlus provides much improved sound quality over standard

vnc console support for pv guests
...d try to start a guest and it locks up like that. What is the proper way to setup vnc support on a vnc guest? That is, vnc access to the console, and not a guest run X server or anything like that. I need this specifically so people can access their vm''s consoles should they lock them selves out. Study Guide by Topics for Beginners
...n. The way you consider it must be done. My plan to learn is make a review of reading from start to end of it to get an overall idea of the topic (as a whole), and then go increasing the level of specification in each topic on each review reading. So the topics' ordering and the topics 'em selves are very important. Could this be right, any suggestion at this point would be highly appreciated too? So my starting list, 1. Introduction to Internet: The bases, and general ideas of where we are standing. At this point I started with Douglas E. Comer's Internetworking with TCP/IP Vol1 2....

UID for CIFS mounts
...pologies if this is obvious, but the documentation isn't clear to me, and my google skills don't seem to be up tp scratch today. Basically: If I mount a CIFS share as on a linux box, and then multiple users on that machine use that share, who do they use it as? The user that mounted or themselves (users are authenticated via pam + winbind on the linux box) Is it possible to have them all authenticated as them selves? We want to have users logging in via SSH and then accessing files on a Windows 2000 server. It's not clear to me how this would be accomplished from the docs, as a user n...

netbios over slow-speed link. need advice
...e, a word document, takes a lot of time. This times of file opening seem to vary very often. They go from 1,5 minutes to 15 minutes. I haven''t seeing the 15 minutes open file time, but the users had told me that it happens from time to time. I wonder, maybe one of you guys, had find your selves in a similar situation and can give some advice. I am not sure, if the netbios communications with this file server are working right, and I would like to know, if it is possible, how to tune the scenario to get it to work properly or at lease, how to view the state of this communications. Any id...

LDAP + Samba + Windows2003
Hello All I am new to the list and have some questions. I want to setup ldap to authenticate for Samba and Windows 2003 server. I have done a lot of research and everything seems to indicate that I will need to setup Samba to be a PDC and have it join the Windows 2003 server domain and build samba with a ldap backend. Is there another way to do this so as I will not have to setup samba to be a
