wilcox_test function in coin package
Dear All,
I have two simple data samples (no groups or factors, etc.) and would just
like to compute the two-sample Wilcoxon Rank Sum test using the wilcox_test
function contained in the coin package, which is reportedly better than the
regular wilcox.test function because it performs some adjustment for ties.
Would anyone know how to craft a script to perform this task? Much
appreciated.

R.bug.report (PR#315)
Again I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all those
working so selflessly on the development of R for us all to use it
freely (and it is such a joy to use!)

This is an old behavior that I had reported before, but as it is still
there, it may not ba a bug (although it looks like one to me). "qfcut"

How to produce notches in bwplot?
Dear r-helpers,
tst <- data.frame(as.numeric(x <- 1:20), f <- rep(c('hi','lo'), times
= 10))
with(tst, bwplot(f ~ x, panel = function(x, y){panel.bwplot(x, y, pch
= '|', stats = boxplot.stats, fill = 8, varwidth = T)}))
I can't figure out from the documentation how to tell stats that I
would like to see notches or (even bands).
Here is what I've

Building R packages under Windows.
Hello,
My question is the following. Has anyone put together an "idiots"
checklist of the steps needed to build a (small personal) package under
Windows, or documented their own experiences of building packages under
Windows?
I ask this as last week there were some very interesting comments
regarding the advantages of putting personally written functions
together as a package

History of R
Earlier today I sent a question to Frank Harrell as an R developer with
whom I am most familiar. He suggested also that I put my questions to
the list for additional responses. Next month I'll be giving a talk on
R as an example of high quality open source software. I think there is
much to learn from R as a high quality extensible product that (at least
as far as I can tell) has never
