question about tool collisions
Recently I got introduced to two packages: {seewave} and {audio} .
Turns out they both have a tool to call a system audio tool, and in both
cases the name of the tool is play(). Naturally these two tools do
slightly different things with different arguments.
So, what should a user do, and more to the point, what should R do? If
I've le...

samples to dataframes
...d, but I really did hunt for information
on it, and tried some ideas without success.
Running Windows XP and R 2.3.1
I am using the Sound package to read in .wav files, and this works fine.
The R object produced is of class "sample". I want to use some of the
functions in the package Seewave to do further analysis, but this
package wants data objects to be dataframes. So I tried various ways to
coerce samples to dataframes, but was not successful.
Does anyone have a hint/solution?
Thanks much,
=Randy=

melting columns
Hello,
I'm using R to run a acoustic analysis software called Seewave. I ask the code to extract a list of variables from my recording, and the program give ONE table for each of these. The tables consist of a two column data.frame with the time in column 1 and the frequency in column 2. However, for my purpose I need only one column with the time first and the freq...

library installation problem, invalid regular expression in help indices
...fails during installation of help
indices. The error is:
"Error: invalid regular expression '^[[:blank:]]*"
The packages for which installation failes, with the respective help
files after which the error occurs:
robustbase: NOxEmissions
tuneR: lilyinput
kernlab: kha
rrcov: CovSest
seewave: wasp
Any ideas?
btw, i just copied my colleague's installation folders to mine, and it
seems to work; for me the problem is solved for now. But it would still
be good to know what the problem is.
Thanks,
Rainer

patch to enhance sound module for 96 kHz/24 bit sample sizes
...192/24. I am copying r-help in case others have
more advanced equipment and an interest in testing it out. Hope this helps!
BTW, if you are curious about the bats, you can check here:

I will be writing a follow-up that uses sound and seewave in the next
few days.
