Setting Codecs on the Fly
Does anyone know if it's possible to set the codecs for a number via an Asterisk command? Ie, yes you can set the codecs in sip.conf for a user, but I'd like to have a command that can set the same thing so that it can be done without having to change sip.conf. Essentially I want the user to be able to prefix a code to their dialled number to set their preferred codec for that call.

Rsync service on Win2k?
...om a few unix boxes. Not my favored constellation, but there's not much I can do about that. I'm hoping someone could give me a quick tip or two on getting rsync working as a Win2k service. I'm not real proficient with Win2k, so be gentle. The posts I could find in the archive all seeem to have gotten past this basic problem! I've installed the latest Cygwin, as well as the Cygwin rsync package. cygrunsrv -I "rsyncd" -d "Rsync daemon" -p /usr/bin/rsync.exe -a "--config=/etc/rsyncd.conf --daemon" installs the service; rsyncd.exe --config=/etc...

pch="." plots much faster
Dear list, I realised by chance when analysing a 1521862 ? 8 matrix that plotting was much faster when using "." as the argument of `pch'. I was just wondering if there were other ways to get this speed improvement: it is otherwise quite difficult to explore such big matrices, especially given that X11 redraws the plot whenever its window is covered/uncovered by another window, or

Higher Bandwidth at lower quality settings
...spectral bandwidth of Speex against the AMR-WB (G.722.2) codec. (Available from 3GPP.org) Speex performs very comparably to AMR-WB until the quality setting drops below around quality 5. At approximately equivalent bitrates AMR-WB maintains the spectral bandwidth better, whereas Speex doesn't seeem to match above 3.5kHz. I was wondering if it would be possible to tweak Speex to drop the narrowband quality at the expense of increasing the bandwidth? RHEL Cluster Samba and AD
Dear All, My head is spinning and I fear I am trying to start this from far too far behind to keep ploughing on. Essentially we are having difficulty with our samba shares at work. We have moved to server 2k8 DCs and this seeems to have reeked havoc on our setup. Our difficulty seems to stem from authentication issues. We have bodged a work around though it is neither very secure nor indeed particularly easy to maintain. Our difficulty seemed to stem from winbindd not being able to read uid/gid from our AD. From what...

WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND error with RFC2307
I am still trying to configure Samba to authenticate users against ActiveDirectory, but lookup uid and gids against a stand-alone OpenLDAP server. Related to a previous recommendation, I found the idmap_rfc2307 capability, which seems likely exactly what I what. Unfortunately, it does not seem to work. Users are not permitted to access shares for which they are in the group. Tests I found online

The RFC2307 backend can just use a stand-alone LDAP for read-only lookups of UID and GIDs, correct? It looks like the 'idmap_ldap' backend is mainly for also allowing Samba to store mappings, though I do see in th...

Showing error messages for two models as one heading
I have two models Program and PointOfContact and here is their relationship Program belongs_to PointOfContact PointOfContact has one Program There is a single form to input a program and it''s associated point of contact information. The default behaviour in Rails seeems to be to show two different error messages (boxes) on the top of the form if there are validation errors in both models. Is there anyway to override that to show just one error message heading e.g. <heading>Program could not be saved because of errors</heading> <subError>P...
