Very slow disk performance on CentOS 4.5
...slower, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Today, I noticed that
disk I/O was very slow to one of the disks (the boot drive, /dev/
hda). It took over 18 minutes to unzip a set of files that used to
take just under 2 minutes on the old system. Sure enough, if I
copied the files to the second drive (/dev/sda), I was able to unzip
them in under 2 minutes again.
When I accidentally clobbered the /boot partition, I learned that
there were two IDE controllers on this motherboard, which explained
why one SATA drive was named /dev/hda and the other SATA drive /dev/
sda. But I find...

Centos 4.3 and Card Reader
CentOS 4.3 (fully updated, including CentOS Plus kernel).
Running KDE 3.5.2 (fully updated from redhat.kde repo).
I can't seem to get the OS to recognize my SD card when inserted into my USB
card reader. Mepis 6 Beta 3 has no problem with it. DMESG sees nothing
happening when the card is inserted. USB-STORAGE module is loaded.

[PATCH 0/4] [AMD IOMMU] Enable PCI passthru for HVM guest
Hi,
The following 4 patches enable direct device assignment (PCI passthru)
for HVM guest
on AMD IOMMU platforms. Please apply them against C/S 16491 as the named
order.
To enable AMD IOMMU, please add "enable_amd_iommu" as xen boot
parameter.
1-cleanup.patch: code cleanup, bug fix, minor enhancements to existing
amd-iommu codes.
2-passthru-amd.patch: passthru support, modifications to

VGA Passthru - FLR?
...that users have been able to passthru these VGA devices to
domU (win7, win-xp and so on).
But, after I installed it, I executed *lspci -vv* to check if FLR in DevCap
was present (which it''s *not*).
I''ve managed, though, to put my virtual machine to work out with the HD
7950 as a secondary device. Sometimes, I have to reboot dom0 to make things
work.
So, here''s my question: is there any patch to help me out and solve this
problem?
Here''s a short description about my equipment: *fedora 18*, kernel 3.6-10
rebuilt with xen-kernel features (instead of kernel modu...
