FW: Seamless Multi Office Asterisk Deployment
Hello
I have a brief and a long question about a possible Asterisk deployment
I am planning.
Long Story Short:
I have four total offices, one main and three remote. All offices are
connected using dedicated network T1 lines creating one unified network
across offices. I would like to know if it is possible to set up an
Asterisk system with the following capabilities:

Seamless web video within reach
I'm interested in feedback on my latest blog post, "Seamless web video
within reach":
http://ossguy.com/?p=424
It primarily describes how to get Theora working in Safari and
Internet Explorer and how to bring it all together with tools like
Mv_Embed.
In addition, I'd like to find people that are interested in developing
and testing the solutions I outlined (especially Mac and

Email to HP Product Suggestions - Seamless Transparent Fax Gateway
i sent a product suggestion to HP. It was a request to use software that
already exists in their JetDirect and Multifunction Fax machines to make
them seamlessly interoperate with a fax gateway in a way transparent to the
end user. Essentially, giving the sysadmin a choice in fax transport
mechanism to route all faxes over analog telephone transport or over the
network.
Thank you for taking

Issue providing seamless migrtion (3.0.24 to 3.5.6) - sambaNTPassword mystery
Hello everyone,
I am operating a migration of samba from 3.0.24 (mysql passdb backend)
to 3.5.6 (openldap passdb), samba working as a domain controller (PDC)
and file share. The main challenge is to provide a seamless migration
for users.
For this new version, I am using smbldap-tools 0.9.6, nss_ldap, openldap
2.4. Everything run on FreeBSD 8.2.
To get used to samba, I have managed to make

RE: Inexpensive Analog Ports
Does anyone know of any inexpensive alternatives to the four port analog
module offered by Digium ($305) what work seamlessly with asterisk?
Thanks

seamless looping mp3 files to icecast
Hello,
The previous message seems to confirm that I'm posting to the right
place - apologies if not.
I have a project where I'm streaming live software-generated PCM audio
to icecast via ices 2.0 stdinpcm - this works great for ogg vorbis
(thanks very much guys!)
I haven't been able to find a stdin-based solution for
PCM->mp3->icecast, is there one? From the docs, it looks

One seamless file space?
Greetings!
I'm experimenting with the 2.0.0.alpha13 snapshot and attempting
to get my four Solaris fileservers to present a single uniform
(automounter-like) namespace to our NT clients. Re-wording,
I'd like PC clients to see a single "server" that appears to
share all of the Unix home directories on four fileservers. The
automounter shields my Unix users from the operational

Blocking countries with shorewall
I''m currently getting a huge number of (failed) attempts
to access my home server at UDP port 27845.
I think most if not all the attacks come from China or Korea.
I see there is a list of Chinese and Korean networks
at <http://www.countryipblocks.net/country-blocks/>.
Is there a standard way of using such a list in shorewall?

ARSession Woes!
I''m having an issue with ARsessions... I have a rails app AND a merb app
both under the same domain... I have redirects working for this to be
seamless... however, the session started on merb is different than the
session started in the rails app... like so..

Any ideas why?
The only difference I see, but dunno where to change this, is

Is mirroring provides failover protection?
Hi,
I have two Gluster servers A and B. They are mirrored. I mount A. What happens when server A goes down?
I would like for my applications to seamlessly use data from the Gluster storage B.
Thanks,
Sergiy.

HA firewall with tinc
I have 2 firewall in HA with keepalived. Can I use active the same tinc configuration on 2 firewalls ? using tun Interface with same ip on all 2 nodes is a problem ? tun device advertise itself on the network having an IP/MAC pairs (ARP) or the IP is only used by the system internally for routing so using the same configuration is right ? so one firewall be active, the other is passive. S4 - Upgrade options from S3
We've been running samba3 with an ldap backend for several years now in our
company. We use a separate exchange server for email, requiring users to
keep two separate passwords - one for the domain (samba) and one for
exchange.
I've been looking at samba4 for a while and am running a test server with
it, built from the latest git source as per the howto description. We would

CUPS and Samba4
Hi,
I'm going to migrate my old CUPS server to a new setup. It shall provide
the printing backend for Samba4 and should integrate as seamless as
possible. Both Windows and Linux users should not require additional
passwords, but should be authenticated by their Kerberos tickets.
Is there anything particular to consider? E.g. has the CUPS server to be
joined to the AD and should it run a

R & Java
Hey guys,
I'm a (Java) integration architect.
We are currently stuck with SAS but I'd be happy to switch that to R! (of
course ;-).
Now, a big argument for the latter, is that we can integrate it seamlessly
with all our existing (java) apps.
Therefore: has anyone heard of a java API (like SAS has it's Java API for
enterprise integration) or a Service we can call (e.g. a web service,

[LLVMdev] using just llvm/clang for building mips llvm
In case anyone is interested....
We don't need to compile llvm/clang using gcc anymore for the building
of mips hosted llvm compilers.
We build a linux mips hosted compiler starting with llvm/clang on x86
linux using the normal configure scripts and
then can use that resulting compiler to build further llvm/clang native
compilers on the mips linux host.
The cross compiler and native

Q about IAX (and IAXy)
This is somewhat related to my other query on the list regarding NAT
traversal.
I have heard many times that IAX is "NAT-transperant". I am unsure how
it accomplishes this.
I do know that SIP works like this: your SIP device send a request to
the SIP server (usually on port 5060) with whatever command. The SIP
server respends to your device's "apparent" IP and port (this

Installing R on Ubuntu ( 8.10 ) ?
installing on Ubuntu, how to do it and have people found it to be glitchy?
which is easier , binary install or from source ?
With the source install, are you less likely to have a dependencies issue ?
( Ubuntu does the GCC install seamlessly, but has no mention of R )

Dovecot 1.2/2.0 coexistence guide?
I am running Dovecot 1.2.16 and considering moving up to 2.0.8.
I have found <http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Upgrading/2.0> but there's
not a lot about deploying a 2.0 server alongside an existing 1.2.
Any hints on a seamless approach to this, especially one that might
allow me to upgrade individual users in place, without moving their
maildirs into a new tree and still avoid issues with

Accessing PC from Unix
Can someone point me to an FAQ, or tell me how to access shared PC
drives from Solaris 8?
I've heard of the smbclient thing - does this allow seamless access - ie
can I run this, then say cd /sharedpc/c/somefolder?
Thanks for any help
