rpart help
...there a problem with large datasets in rpart?
Also, do you happen to know the parameter options which
will make rpart and tree act the same. I am wondering if
this is possible since I have no missing data.
Thank you for any help you can offer,

cubic spline/smoother with nlme
Greetings, I would like to use a cubic spline
or smoother to model the fixed effects within
nlme. So far the only smoother I have been able
to get to run successfully in nlme is smooth().
I tried smooth.spline:
fixed=list(lKa~1,lCL~smooth.spline(BSA, df=3))
the error I got was the following.
Error in model.frame(formula, rownames, variables, varnames, extras,
extranames, : invalid

Namespaces without packages?
Dear R-help list -
Here's my problem. I have some programs I want to share with other users in the department. I currently tell users to use source("/path/to/myfile.R") to include the program. If I understand correctly, this puts all the functions I wrote into the user's namespace. So if I have a function my.func() and if the user already had a function named my.func(), I

Controlling the order of /dev/sdX devices?
Hi
CentOS 5.4(final) 2.6.18-164el5PAE. I am trying to prevent removable
USB and eSATA devices from occupying /dev/sdX devices ahead of a 3ware
RAID controller. For example: at boot, if a USB drive and eSATA HDD
(connected to an LSI 1068E onboard controller, reflashed in "IT" mode to
handle hotplug devices) were both present, they would occupy devices
/dev/sdb and /dev/sdc, ahead of

reading the seed from a simulation
Greetings,
I have a simulation of a nonlinear model that
is failing. But it does not fail til way into the simulation.
I would like to look at the run that is failing
and maybe I could if I could capture the seed for the
failing run. The help file on set.seed says you can do it
but when I tried
rs<-.Random.seed
print(paste("rs",rs,sep=" "))
I got 626 of them so I

Writing R documentation
Greetings,
I used latex type code in my Rd files.
The pdf version using

came out quite nice.
However, my current HTML version does not tex the latex so there is
latex code in the files and looks bad.

Help Needed in attempting to install 64-bit R!
Hello R Help,
I am attempting to install/build a 64-bit version of R to hopefully resolve some memory.limit problems for a user who is running a simulation. The 'configure' runs fine and the compilation (make) runs fine until the very last part (see below). I have libiconv in /usr/local/lib (no sure why I am getting the referencing error). The config.site file is attached. ANY HELP YOU

controlling axes in plot.cuminc (cmprsk library)
Dear R-help list members,
I am trying to create my own axes when plotting a cumulative incidence
curve using the plot.cuminc function in the CMPRSK library. The default
x-axis places tick marks and labels at 0, 20, 40, 60, and 80 (my data has
an upper limit of 96), whereas I want them at my own specified locations.
Here is my example code:

R - Compiling and calling Fortran code that uses IMSL libraries - Help!
Good Afternoon R Help!
On of my users is seriously thinking about moving to R from Splus. In his
testing, he has already found some benefits to it. He has, however run
into one issue, calling his Fortran functions in R. Previously, in Splus,
he would do the following:
1. Compile via f90 the *.f program
2. link the object file to the Fortran IMSL libraries via the 'ld' command
3.
