dealing with spoofing
Here's a thought I just thunk, folks: some scum, apparently in eastern Europe, has harvested my email, and is using it in the Reply-To: in its spamming efforts. Now, I realize that some mails go out from noreply, but other than that, is there a good reason why a mailserver would not be configured to send delivery failure to *both* Reply-To and F...

Error: Incorrect password length
Hi, I just upgraded my server to support Windows 7 and so installed Samba 3.5.4 from 3.2.5. OS is Debian Lenny. Now my Windows XP clients cannot join the Domain. When joining the Domain, I get a wrong password error on Windows. In my samba logs it shows the following: [2010/08/03 12:10:19.681501, 0] lib/util_sock.c:1432(get_peer_addr_internal) getpeername failed. Error was Transport endpoint

last login user tracking
Hello, I'm trying to get last login user tracking going, using Dovecot and mysql. I'm using: https://docs.iredmail.org/track.user.last.login.html and it is working, I am seeing an entry and it is updated, the problem is the last login value does not mean anything to me. I was wondering if it's possible to have the value be of a last login date and time, and also a remote ip would be

Mail has quit working
...years ago, sure. But when you have a domain hosted, as I do, at Hostmonster, and since I'm not paying for a business account, there are literally tens or hundreds of thousands of domains whose email is going through them, I don't care how many admins you have, you can't keep up with the scum... and so EVERY SINGLE BLOODY DOMAIN'S EMAIL in all those is blocked. They don't seem to look for "spam from many domains from the same mailserver", just "is a lot of spam coming from that mailhost". I first ran into that in the early oghts, when one of them blocked AL...

Working around the year 2038 bug in Ruby''s Time class?
I would have never imagined that I''d be bitten by the Y2038 bug someday... but it just happened and, trust me, it hurts! I have to deal with a database containing datetime fields with dates up to 2050 and more. ActiveRecord raises an exception because Ruby''s Time class implementation. Besides running Ruby on a 64-bit platform, what can be done to avoid that? Does a

Simple Samba
I have simple needs, as I am my only user. I am in transition between Linux and Windows. I need to get Samba running. I DO NOT need any security between machines (except to the internet.) I have certain hardware requirements that forces me to keep Windows a little longer, some day soon I will be able to afford to make the last changes. In the mean time I need to move and store my "My

LiveVoip is Bankrupt
So it looks like Livevoip went Bankrupt ------------------------------------------- There is a Federal Court Order in place and has been since Friday early a.m. ALL Suppliers are now under a Court Order that prevents them from terminating any and all services to LiveVoip LLC. The perfect development environment?
I am trying to create the perfect development environment for rails and i dont know exactly which way to go. Do i create a windows environment or a *nix environment. If i go *nix, what distro is best suited for rails. I would be using mysql, so that would come in to play. If i go *nix, i would use apache. Any ideas for the right environment would be greatly appreciated. I guess the major choice is

Negating or removing classes
I have a situation where I''d like to perform some actions when a node is removed from a class. I have a few (homegrown) services that install ssh keys in authorized_keys and it''s possible that a node may have the service enabled and disabled during it''s lifetime. When disabled I''d like to clean up the ssh keys for security reasons. This brings up the broader
