Yearly attempt at 'vampire' of NT4 domain
Hi all. Since our NT4 PDC is on it's last legs, I've been motivated to once again try to use samba's vampire functionality. Unfortunately I'm actually doing worse than last year ... My smb.conf: [global] socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192 interfaces = 10.146.0.254/255.255.0.0 encrypt passwords = yes printing = cups

How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
Hi Rob The stream format has nothing to do with your audio files. I probably have 70% MP3's and 30% Ogg Vorbis files, and 1 or 2 WAV files for jingles on my hard drive. I only encode new CD's to Ogg Vorbis. But my station is streaming in AAC+ format, and I have also streamed in Ogg Vorbis format simultaneously. There is no way I would bother streaming in MP3 format. It's 15+

A few issues with samba & cups
Hi all. I have Samba-3.0.1 sharing 2 printers via the 'share all printers' feature - the printers are an HP 4500 colour laser, and a Ricoh Aficio AP3200 ( accepting jobs like a network HP does ). I followed the instructions on the CUPS website for sharing printers with the CUPS windows driver, using their 'cupsaddsmb' script, which basically takes your existing ppd file, and

Voiceprompts i.e. voicemail and conferencing in multiple codecs
Hi, I am running asterisk 1.6.1.6 with a howler screamer card. I have g729 and alaw trunks from a pbx /sip providers. The howler screamer will only transcode from g729 to alaw / ulaw but my voice prompts are in SLIN and throws errors when i try and access these applications. Is it simply a case of converting the prompts into other codecs and asterisk will pick these up? ? Thanks

tftpd and broadcast
Why tftpd doesn't support request from clients trying to tftp to the broadcast address? Will this feature ever appear in tftpd? Or is there any workaround for serving broadcast requests? Radek

XEN
I have a fairly high disk i/o intensive email server I am thinking of upgrading. I was thinking of upgrading it to CentOS 5.x 64bit. I was also thinking of running it as a guest under XEN. Would this allow me to more easilly transfer it to faster hardware in the future? Or would running as a guest seriously hurt disk i/o?

Anyone here user lightwave/screamernet
...inux, which then stumped me as I couldnt develop my screamernet controller anymore, so I grabbed the tools and rewrote it using gtk+ and here we are. I'm at the stage where I am executing screamernet now, which is what I want to talk about. my interface can handle multiple scenes and multiple screamers, but this is not important right now, I am mainly interested in running screamernet under wine and being able to render something, then the interesting stuff can happen! anyone want to build a cheap render farm? want to save around ?300 per computer by not having to run windows on those machines?...

Samba4 LDAP issues
I cannot add users to my server and after going through many google searches and trying several things here is an issue I have found at minimum a LDAP issue when comparing my primary and secondary domain controllers. I do not know how to repair it and that is why I am contacting the list. Below is the output of the comparison. Master: 4.2.0pre1-GIT-58865d9 Slave: 4.2.0pre1-GIT-815bde2 Thank

Motherboards for HPC applications
Hello, Can somebody recommend CentOS-OK, dual socket motherboards for compute elements? A quick look up at Intel pages suggests they are thinking of them as "server boards", but then they recommend them as "for SMB", I'm somewhat puzzled about it. It would be nice to know what MBs you are using, pros and cons. Thank you in advance -- Eduardo Grosclaude Universidad

Liveice & Icecast...help
Yes, I downloaded the aumix utility and am using it now. Set line in to %50 then %25 and to record but still the same thing. I'm streaming from the line in on the sound card which is being fed from a portable radio nearby. I get the distortion whether I have the audio fed into 'line in' or not. How do I list in YP? icecast2 ices0
I can understand wanting to boost the adoption of Xiph codecs, but I think restricting the directory to vorbis streams only will not help this endeavour. I can imagine it will just piss a lot of people, including myself, and give Xiph a bad name. I get very few listeners of my AAC+ stream now since this occured. The restriction is not an insentive to switch to Ogg Vorbis at all. The incentive

Multiple Mountpoints Problem
Hello, I've searched far and wide on the net and the only thing I've come up with is that no one has ever had this problem. I'm running Icecast 1.3.12 and the latest liveice on a Slackware 8.1 box. The idea here is that I need to stream a live source in multiple bitrates. I am having a problem that is just about going to send me back to Shoutcast. I have set up two
