...o get a good combination between the number of inodes to set and the number of blocks to set as well. My ideal setting is at least 15MB to 20MB per user. I am using SuSE 7.0 kernel 2.2.16 using Samba 2.0.7. Any ideas??? Any help regarding this would greatly help... How to insert filename as column in a file
Hi, I am relatively new to R. Have scourged the help files and the www but havent been able to get a solution. I have around 250 csv files, one file for each date. They have columns of all types, numeric, string etc. The name of each file is the date in the form of 'yyyymmdd'. There is no column within the file which helps me iden...

can you see the future?
...ere week since my last post on this topic, things have improved greatly... yes, it's true that most of this improvement is occurring on the mac side, when light-markup is a benefit that can truly work cross-platform. (face it, folks, it's truly the only way that we can rid the world of the scourge known as ms-word.) and yes, it's also true that there's still too much emphasis on light-markup as a vehicle to .html, instead of enlightenment about its broader value for archiving, as an alternative to heavy-markup. (face it, folks, it's truly the only way that we can rid the world...

Samba and quotas
Hi all, Being new on this list I do not really know if this is the correct list to post. After searching the archives I am pretty sure the answer is not yet here (or I can't search, which can be true) My problem is as follows We are currently testing a Linux/Samba server to host the home shares for about 1000 students at our school (the test is conducted with just 10 of them). [LLVMdev] Using C++'11 language features in LLVM itself
Hello all, Using the Apache Wiki [1] I summed up what can be used simultaneously by gcc, MSVC and clang. I mostly considered only the latest versions of the proposals where there were several, where not there is a link to a note at the bottom. Furthermore I did not scourge through 3 bug databases and I implicitly trusted the wiki page. I drew up a list of profiles, listing the base capabilities for the first and then what each of them adds to the previous one. The version of clang is the minimum possible adjusted so as not to limited what the gcc/MSVC combination...

They could unplug his machine from their network, freeing us all of the scourge his auto responder is providing us. Of course, he might also feel quite mortified to find out that his inbox is filled with some 100,000 E-mails that have directions to keep him from being viewed as a techno-illiterate in the future. Spam vs. Viruses
I have purchased a license for Vexira MailArmor (an antivirus product) and the good news is that it is installed and working at shorewall.net. The bad news is that I have yet to get Vexira running together with SpamAssassin :-( As things currently stand, list posts will be protected from viruses but may contain Spam. I''ll continue to work to correct this situation. -Tom -- Tom Eastep

Extension .v+ogg does work
Hello everyone, As discussed on last Monthly Meeting, Monty settled on recommending the extension .v+ogg for Theora files IF it would work on Linux. Probably many have tested it already, but I haven't seen anything said publically, so for the record, v+ogg works on both Windows and Linux. Hadn't a chance to test it on Mac OS X, but I'm sure it should work there too. And Plan 9 :)

Vorbis license terms?
Are there any thoughts to changing the license used by Vorbis from the GPL to the LGPL? As it stands, linking to libvorbis will taint any program. I'd like to research using Vorbis and contribute to it, but I'm not at the liberty to GPL the engine I'd like to link with libvorbis. The GPL prevents me from using it. The LGPL would still protect the Vorbis code while allowing

RC3 Tagging/Encoding and Winamp answer
First of all, I'm using WinXP and love vorbis! :-) Since I just joined the mailing list, I figured I would answer the Winamp question. Winamp has different EQ algorithms - they have a "fast layer 2/3 EQ" option for mp3s, and they have a PCM EQ for all other formats (wma, ogg, etc.). While the mp3 EQ sounds ok, the PCM EQ (which gets applied to ogg files) is absolutely horrible. I

MIT vs GPL vs LGPL for open source project
I intend to release a project I wrote with Rails. What is the right licensing scheme for a web application (content managing system) which could grow with plugins and add-ons ? Personally, I would prefer the GPL but does that mean any add-on to the CMS (like task management) will have to be GPL ? If some people contribute to the code could it still be double-licenced so that the people who
