Distinctive ring confusion
I am somewhat unsure as to the definition of "Distinctive Ring".
What I am trying to achieve is to have Zap connected phones (TDM400P)
ring with different cadences depending on whether the call is incoming
on the PSTN context or an IAX2 context.
Googling, I find this from Mark:
I've added distinctive ring support to Asterisk now (also I've added

Smart-UPS RT 3000 Baud Rate
I have been running a Smart-UPS RT 3000 VA using nut successfully over
the 940-0095B cable for a couple of years.
I have just received a second unit, but it is slightly different in 3
ways that I have found so far.
1. It's a Smart-UPS RT 3000 XL
2. The 940-0095B cable now uses an RJ45 connector at the UPS end.
3. It now requires a baud rate of 9600 instead of the 2400 used previously.

Panasonic x Asterisk if I can emulate Panasonic fast!
Im a 3-days-asterisk-newbie. In 3 weeks, I must have a PBX installed in
a new office of ours: Panasonic or Asterisk. Asterisk would be, if I can
emulate some Panasonic functions on Asterisk fast, to convince the
executives.
What I have done until now: Bought 1 Linksys pap2 (2 FXS), 1 Linksys
SPA3102 (1 FXS + 1 FXO) for making asterisk tests. Configured
Asterisk/Fedora 9 so I can make SIP->PSTN

BRI newbie queries.
Knowing very little about Basic Rate ISDN and having spent the last
couple of hours educating myself, I thought I would seek some more
informed comment. Please go easy if this is blindingly obvious :)
I have a ZyXEL Prestige 100 ISDN Router, a stand alone relic from when
we used to access the Net via ISDN.
It has an ISDN BRI input, a 10BaseT ethernet connector, an RS232

I've installed a TDM04B and a TDM40B. I haven't plugged any lines

Instant hangup on busy Zap channel.
A call is placed via IAX2 from one asterisk to another, to a TDM400
channel whose extensions.conf entry is
exten => 502,1,Dial(${COLIN})
exten => 502,2,Congestion
If this channel is already busy when called, the call is instantly
hungup, without the caller hearing the congestion tone.
The log from the callers asterisk shows:

Looking for new hardware
Hi.
I gave up with the IBM NetFinity, so I'm going to buy new hardware. I'm
going to install:
1-)One X100P (1 FXO module)
2-)One TDM03B (3 FXO modules)
I'll have the 4 FXO channels busy almost all the time, and I would like
quality to be as good as possible without going to the high-level
hardware. I would like to learn of some tested configurations (I've
heard of problems

Answer on second ring - need it on first.
After some months of "Make updates", I have just deleted my Zaptel and
Asterisk source directories and done "cvs checkout" 's of asterisk and
zaptel, in order to clean up the trees.
After re-installing, I am finding that when dialling into an X100P, that
Answer is now answering on the second ring, where it always used to
answer on the first before.

TDM cards and Asterisk

/lib/modules/2.4.20/misc/wcfxs.o: post-install wcfxs failed
/lib/modules/2.4.20/misc/wcfxs.o: insmod wcfxs failed
The machine has to be restarted to get rid of this.
Any help very much appreciated, as I am very impressed otherwise.

CentOS 4.x and ooh323
I'm trying to add ooh323c to my asterisk 1.2.7.1 install and did an svn
update of asterisk-addons and followed the readme in asterisk-ooh323c and I
get through the .configure with no errors. But make causes:
rpath /usr/local/lib -L./ooh323c/src -version-info 1:1:0 -lpthread
make: rpath: Command not found
make: [libchan_h323.la] Error 127 (ignored)
I'm not real sure what to try to fix

Asterisk on Dell blade servers
We've been asked to quote for a large cluster running Asterisk and our
ITSP in a box product. The system will be SIP throughout, with mixed
codecs.
We're considering using Dell blade servers, 1855 or similar, on the
grounds that we normally use Dell machines and they work well, but we
need higher rack density.
Has anyone used these? Any feedback on whether they're

TDM400P lockups (FXO)
Hey all - we have two TDM400P cards in an SMP Redhat9 box, with 4 FXO
ports each running thel latest Asterisk CVS.
Users connect to this to share POTS lines using analog phones connected
to Sipura SPA-2000 boxes. All works reasonably well, except every day
(or more) a line will get "locked up". No other way to describe it
really -- the line just stops working, so if someone tries

911 Q
OK, got a question on 911.
Looking into setting up a couple asterisk servers at a country club,
with VOIP phones in each of 100 short-term residential rental units.
Approx 100 extensions, approx 24 outside lines.
Since everything is geographically at one location, reaching 911
correctly shouldn't present a problem. However, the club wishes to
ensure that 911 authorities are able to identify

Polycom 500, asterisk user opinions?
Hi all, I'm researching IP phones for a new office setup. We will need
30 phones. I have read the wiki and the polycom site for the phones,
but I still had some questions about real world experience with these
phones.
-According to the documentation, the 500 series ( and 600, according to
a polycom rep ) have built in hubs. Has anybody noticed performance
issues in this setup, when

Qs about FXO/FXS cards
Hello.
I am going to be putting together my first * system using FXO/FXS
interfaces. All the systems I have set up thus far have been pure VoIP
setups.
The system I need to set up should have 3 FXO interfaces and 1 FXS
interface, as well as several SIP phones. I have noticed people
complaining about Digium's TDM cards - are these isolated incidents or
are these cards unreliable? I intend to
