Anybody familiar with it, or what it's needed for? I've got at least one user (it's *very* noticeable with her) whose system is spamming /var/log/messages, to the effect of "Another agent is running...\nFailed to allocate the agent. Exitting" (complete with misspelled exiting). In googling, I've seen someone just removing the package. What, if anything, would that break?

Hello, everybody. As mentioned in subjetc line, I have'nt succeeded to input Japanese using SCIM into apps running over wine, more especifically MS Word. I tried it with Notepad, and it equally failed. I tried to use NJStar as 'alternative IME' to those Windows apps, but it failed as well... Out of wine layer, SCIM is running as usual. I just downloaded wine 1.1.15, compiled and installed it on my centos 5.2 PC. It's exciting to successfully migrate applications to linux. However, I found that SCIM sends strange codes as Chinese and Japanese characters to applications. I need both Chinese and Japanese input methods very much. Can anyone give me advice to correct this problem?

The problem is that when moving (the most obvious activity you can see this with) the key you press acts like it's being pressed in rapid succession instead of being held down. That is until another key is pressed then the previous key moves the character smoothly. This might be a problem with my keyboard though. But I'm putting this out there just in case anybody else has the same

Necroposting solution: It turns out that this was a known bug relating to SCIM. Disabling SCIM before starting Wine fixes the issue, and now all of my apps recognize the keyboard correctly.

Same problem here. Using Ubuntu 9.04 64bit, Brazilian portuguese. Can type deadkeys everywhere except on wine applications(notepad, office 2007). I'm using scim/scim-bridge(portuguese/japanese) too and works on native linux GTK/QT applications, but doesn't work on wine..... just an extra information. Maybe it helps to solve this issue.... or not. :-)
