odfweave with openOffice 3.2
Dear list, since I have upgraded openOffice to version 3.2 I have some trouble to open very simple ODT files generated by odfweave: the file is apparently corrupted (but recovery is fine). I have observed this under windows and mac OS 10.4.11 with R 2.10.0, odfWeave_0.7.11, XML_2.6-0, lattice_0.17-26. However, I found nothing similar by RSiteSearching so that I'm suspecting a localization

odfWeave: odt-file damaged
Dear all, I'm resurrecting this old post (about 6 monts old, reproduced thereafter) because I have struggled against the same problem and found a solution so that I found it was worth posting for the record. The simple fix when you want to use odfWeave with 7-ZIP as a compressing/decompressing utility under windows is to use the 'x' instead of the 'e' option so as to preserve

R talks at LSM 2007
Dear R users and developers, Would any of you be interested in giving a lecture about R and/or R use cases at the following free software conference that takes place in Amiens, France, next summer? We already had a talk on R last year by Yves Croissant (http://2006.rmll.info/theme_26?lang=en) but are still open to any submission this year. We expect some talks this year (to be confirmed) about

Inno setup script request
Dear all, I am a public resaerch engineer in marseille (France) and I am currently developping a free software for high throughput experiments in biology using mainly R (bioconductor). This project is almost at a finalisation stage and I would like to build an installshield using innosetup for the windows version of my software. The ideal case would be to also include the required 2.6

names lost in functions from packages installed by R-devel r74500
Dear list members, If I install with R-devel r74500 on Windows (sessionInfo below) the attached 'bugdemo' package with the single function foo <- function() { ? named <- c("bar"=TRUE) ? print(named) ? return(named) } then run > bugdemo::foo() [1] TRUE [1] TRUE The "bar" name is lost. It is not lost when I define foo in the R session instead of using

Regression slope confidence interval
Hi list, is there any direct way to obtain confidence intervals for the regression slope from lm, predict.lm or the like? (If not, is there any reason? This is also missing in some other statistics softwares, and I thought this would be quite a standard application.) I know that it's easy to implement but it's for explanation to people who faint if they have to do their own programming...

Set off high-pass filter
Dear Sir/Madam, I am PhD student in Speech Enhancement at INRIA in France. I am part of the Multispeech team, which is supervised by Emmanuel Vincent. My work includes echo cancellation, dereverberation and noise suppression. It's been 2 years I am using SpeexDSP for echo cancellation. I noticed there was a high-pass filter and I tried to deactivate it by commenting the lines related to

Bug in RODBC ?
Dear lists, It seems that RODBC has a problem : when reading through ODBC from an Access table with missing values, *character* missing values are (correctly) reported as NA factor values. *Numeric* values, however, retain the value of the same variable in the previous row. My setup : R 1.1.1 under Win95, RODBC as compiled with the R Win CRAN distribution, MS Access 97. I just discovered this,

Whitehead's group sequential procedures
Dear List, I would like to know if there exist some R implementation of John Whitehead's procedures for the planning and analysis of group sequential clinical trials. His book is enlightenig but somewhat frustrating : it has a good basic exposition of his framework, but the technical details are sparse, and leave much work to do when one plans to reuimplement part of the procedures. Summary : Whitehead's group sequential procedures
Dear List, I recently asked about any R implementations of Whitehead's methods for sequential clinical trials. Here's the summary of answers so far : 1) There is no R public implementation of those methods 2) There exists an interest for such a package, which does things quite different from Lan-deMets paradigm (shortly : Whitehead's methods allows for unplanned interim analyses

ICC for Binary data
Hello R users: I am fairly new to R and am trying to figure out how to compute an intraclass correlation (ICC) and/or design effect for binary data? More specifically, I am trying to determine the amount of clustering in a data set - that is, whether certain treatment programs tend to work with more or less severe clients. The outcome variable is dichotomous (low severity / high severity)
