Network Scanning
...s i was able to get my hands on a version of the linux printer driver that works (UFR II driver for linux only available on the canon.de website).. so now i'm trying to scan. Just to pre-emt some posts, this is not connected to a USB port in any way.. Installing the windows app, color network scangear works under wine. Going into the configuration the app can find and talk to the scanner, all good. The app however doesn't allow you to actually scan, of course you have to TWAIN to do that (doh!) Is there anyway of pointing linux to use the wine twain?? Probably not i'm sure, but it see...

How to let a Windows App talk to a Windows Scanner Driver
...w that Wine usually offers the system's SANE scanners to Windows applications using a custom implementation of the twain.dll. In my case, I'm using a network scanner which has no linux drivers (Canon ImageRunner 2200). I was able to successfully install the Windows driver on Wine, and the ScanGear Tool that comes with the driver reports that the Scanner is online and the communication is working. (Since no direct hardware access is involved and all communication to the scanner is carried out over TCP/IP, I'm not even sure if this is a "real driver" from the technical point of v...
