Well, today fredrick sangar, the guy who pretty much created the technology
necessary for generating "bioinformatics" data, has passed away. In honor
of fredrick sanger, it might be interesting to see a community post on all
the genomics and bioinformatics organizations out there using gluster to
store tera/pedabytes of genomic or bioinformatics data.

Sorry, I am clearly missing something here.
I want to read this file directly:

I tried using
read.table(gzfile("ftp://ftp.sanger.ac.uk/pub/mirbase/targets/v5/arch.v5
.txt.gallus_gallus.zip"))
But I got an error:

question about extreme value distribution
...r, I'm not sure how to do this.
I am wondering is there a way to use the
extreme value distribution functions in R
to test the hypothesis that the maximum of Y
(for a particular X) is correlated with X?
I would appreciate advice very much.

attributing values to dataframe positions following eval
...PS: yes, I'm aware that using arrays and dataframes instead of going
through the creation of variables may be more practical, but the context
is much more complex than the presented example (and in that specific
case, having these variables is a requirement)

The traffic on r-help could be reduced by creating a second list where
more elementary questions are asked.

lost ability to apt-get install r-base=3.4.2-1trusty1
