I save the data frame in an RData-file on a usb stick, and load() it in R (2.8.0) running on OS X 10.5. The second which is my real problem, is how the two handle filenames with non-ascii characters. We have lot of filenames with scandinavian characters which cause problems because the Mac's and Window's machines think the same file has a different name, and can't access it properly. I have a bunch of files on a Windows (98) machine which use different character sets. Some of the filenames have German characters in them, some French, Polish, others Scandinavian and even Korean.
