CentOS 5 + Nforce 4 SLI Intel SATA problems
...same setup was 100%
reliable. I also have two 160gig Maxtor ATA133 drive in the machine on
the on board PATA controller and they work totally reliable. I'm
wondering if anyone else is having a problem with on board nvidia sata
controller thats part of the nforce4 chipset?
btw its using the sata_nv driver. Also when I reboot it works fine for a
few hours and then begins to act up again. Its not a heat problem, the
drives have a working fan directly blowing on the drives, and the case
its in has very good airflow.

sata_nv, CentOS 4 update 2 and hang during post-install
Good day. Thanks in advance for any help.
I have a Tyan S2895 (Thunder K8WE) with 2 275 Opterons and the latest
(1.02) bios. It appears to have an nVidia nForce SATA chipset which
connects to a 250gb WD Caviar SATA drive.
Using the CentOS 4 update 2 x86_64 DVD, the install is peachy until
half-way through the "performing post install configuration" bit.
Then it hangs forever.

Lockup at boot with nFroce SATA
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hello,
Is the sata_nv (based on SCSI) driver supposed to work with Xen?
When I tried to boot my dom0 kernel recompiled with the sata_nv drivers

...enLinux configuration, a modified version of my native kernel

''make allmodconfig''. I have tried ramdisks created using just mkinitrd
with no options, and also using `--with=scsi_mod --with=sd_mod

The one thing that seems suspicious in the XenLinux configuration is
that the SCSI/SATA symbols have different names than the symbols in my
native CentOS kernel that does boot (2.6.18-92). When I try to copy the

Problems loading CentOS 4.4 on ASUS M2N-MX mobo
I have a brand new ASUS MB model M2N-MX which is giving me issues when
installing Centos 4.4 64 bit
I initially had problems with finding the SATA drives but I resolved that
issue by simply selecting the NVIDIA SATA (sata_nv)driver from the list of
drivers during the initial install.
The install seemed to go fine after that as the installer uses the Generic
VESA video driver during the install, however, upon the restart after the
install, the server then completely locks up. I can only assume it is at the
point of load...

4.4/64-bit Supermicro/ Nvidia Sata RAID Driver
Hi,
I am installing Centos ServerCD 4.4 64-bit on a new Supermicro board,
the RAID BIOS looks fine, RAID 5, all 4 Seagate ES 250 GB drives show up
as a single array in the RAID BIOS tool, and the OS install phase
completes without a hitch.
One thing I noticed was that the OS was loading the sata_nv driver and
picking up the 4 Sata drives instead of the large RAID5 volume, it
should just appear as one big 1TB drive. Usually it should see the RAID
and not worry about loading the sata driver per se from what I remember...
When the OS install completes and I reboot, I simply get a blinking c...

Issues installing x86_64 5.1 on Ultra 40
...o deactivate
itself. :) A hard reset and reseat of the drive in the SATA enclosure
brings it back again.
First thought was that the slot or SATA port was bad, so we have moved
to others with the same result.
Solaris 10 x86 installs perfectly on this machine, so I'm starting to
think that the sata_nv driver is to blame here.
We're in the process of trying 32-bit CentOS 5.1 on the system just for
giggles, and may try Fedora 8 as well or RHEL 5.1 and use our paid
support to track this issue down, but thought I'd run it by everyone
here.

Problems with SATA DVD+-RW drive
...) I
thought it might be a permission problem, but the device (/dev/scd0) is
showing up as being "owned" by me, courtesy of Gnome no doubt. I get
the bad burns whether I run as root or a regular user.
At this point I don't know whether to think the problem is with cdrecord
or the sata_nv driver. Anybody got any ideas on where to look next?
Thanks!

I read in ubuntu and fedora forums that they're supported in Ubuntu 7.04,
7.10, 8.04 and Fedora 7, 8, 9, haven't test them yet though, I want to stick
with Centos bcos thats my working enviroment.
What can I do?

dlmglue fixes
David,
So here are the two patches. Remove all patches that you have and apply
these.
The first one is straight forward.
The second one will hopefully fix the livelock issue you have been
encountering.
People reviewing the patches should note that the second one is slightly
different than the one I posted earlier. It removes the BUG_ON in the if
condition where we jump to update_holders. The

3.0.4 ACPI support and Opteron 2210 ?
Hello,
I originally posted this to xen-users, but someone suggested I post it here.
I am having ACPI problems on a PenguinComputing Altus1600 system.
It has 2x dual core Opteron 2210 processors.
The system boots with a standard Debian or Ubuntu SMP kernel, with ACPI
enabled. However the xen live cd, binary xen install, as well as my own custom
compile of xen 3.0.4 from source will not boot.
