MacOS X: update.packages(type="mac.binary") fails (PR#7834)
...) (but
no .install.macbinary()). So it might be that .install.macbinary()
function was supposed to call this function, and there is a naming
conflict.
My intention was to look at editing this piece today so that I would
change the call of .install.macbinary() into call of install.binaries,
but the sanguine(*) R in MacOS X refuses to start in GUI mode today with
uninformative error message ("The application R has unexpectedly
quit."). So it seems not be the only problem in the MacOS X build of R
at CRAN. Starting from bash prompt in Terminal.app fails as well with
error ".onLoad failed...

A general question on this: does enabling locking for all the handle
operation cause any noticeable performance issue in single-thread
handle usages?
Would it be worth making...

[cfe-dev] Shortest RFC ever: I propose we rename files using `.TXT` extension to use `.txt`
I mean, I can try to get these to not be "renames" in svn... but surely
modern windows SVN clients handle this correctly? (and git clienst?)

summary(polr.object)
Dear all,
I have used polr in MASS but I am uncertain about the summary(polr.object)
interpretation and would be happy for help on that. This is my summary:

Re-fitting to get Hessian
Call:
polr(formula = as.ordered(shade) ~ as.factor(objekt), data = sof,
weights = as.numeric(frek))

[PATCH v3 0/5] threads: Add support for thread-safe handle.
...ches, fixing a few spelling
mistakes, but they are broadly the same as before. I also ran all the
tests, which pass.
As with the previous versions, this makes a change to the API, where
you can no longer pass a handle between threads and expect
guestfs_last_error() to work. I'm somewhat more sanguine about this
change, since using the API like that is abstruse and no one should be
expecting that to have worked.

the next mountain for markdown to climb up
...t fantastic.
this software can cross-convert 183 types of light-markup.
hey, i bet you didn't even _know_ that 183 types _existed_!
well, pandoc does, and it's got every one of 'em down pat...
you'll be hard-pressed to find anything more remarkable.
nonetheless, i felt a lot more sanguine about pandoc when
i was under the misimpression it supported multimarkdown.
because without a solid authoring tool for its own format,
i think pandoc is gonna twist in the wind. sorry, john, but
that's my opinion. (and, just so everyone is clear on this...
at one time i offered to write an...

Hello friends of R list,

Yager on ZFS
Not sure if it''s been posted yet, my email is currently down...

Interesting piece. This is the second post from Yager that shows
solaris in a pretty good light. I particularly like his closing
comment:
"If you haven''t checked out ZFS yet, do, because it will eventually
become ubiquitously implemented
