To whom it may concern: My OS: CentOS 5.5 R version: R-2.11.1 My questions are as follows: First, I inputted commands: ----------------------------- # ./configure --enable-R-shlib # make # make check ----------------------------- Everything goes well until "make check". screen log: ************************************** make[1]: Entering directory `/tmp/R-2.11.1/tests' make[2]: Entering directory `/tmp/R-2.11.1/tests' make[3]: Entering directory `/tmp/R-2.11.1/tests/Examples' Collecting examples for package 'base' Extracting from parsed Rd's ........................................ I am also pretty interested in what "internal error 5" means?? Any idea of this error?? Thank you very much. KuanSheng Hsieh Taipei, Taiwan
Hi Tim, I had solved the problem myself. I found that the problem was caused by VMware. After re-installing vmware-tools, the problem disappeared... Furthermore, the issue has nothing to do with xz software. I had uninstalled xz on my system and the "make check" still passed all test. If you are using VMware to run Linux system, you can try re-configure and re-install vmware-tools. Otherwise, there might something wrong with the hardware, such as DRAM. It might be a good idea to find another computer and try again with the same circumstances. On the 64-bit version of the platform it runs its tests just fine. I haven't solved the problem yet on the 32-bit version. Have you managed to find anything else out yet? No-one seems to have replied to you on the list...
