minimal requirement
Hi, what is the minimal hardware requirement for run R on windows 9x? and for run it in a linux with X and a light windowmanager? Not for hard use, only for learning. Services on Gentoo Client Systems
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 You folks were so helpful with my last problem I thought I''d try again. I''m attempting to use the services filetype to ensure that ntpd is running on all my hosts. Unfortunately this does not seem to be working on my Gentoo test system. I get the following output on the client log: puppetd[3436]: Starting configuration run

blastwave.rb patch
The original blastwave.rb would store "no pkg-get in /usr/sbin /usr/ bin" into @@pkgget if pkg-get is not found in the PATH. The patch below modifies blastwave.rb to store the first matching binary in the user''s PATH, or if not found, check the default location (puppetd''s PATH may not be sane) and if still not present and executable, correctly store as nil.

reports without puppetmaster/puppetd
It appears that --report only works to send reports to puppetmaster. Is there a way or could an option be added to have the puppet client print out it''s report to stdout or stderr, for folks who are using puppet without the puppetmaster/puppetd? Thanks, Abe _______________________________________________ Puppet-users mailing list Puppet-users@madstop.com

Groups
Hello, Is it possible to group many nodes together? Suppose I have a large number of machines that I all want to have the same config - rather than specify them as individual nodes each inheriting the same config, I''d like to say that a group inherits a config, and define the group elsewhere. Does this sort of construction already exist? Could it be cobbled together from what we

gplpv driver correctly supports 9GB RAM in Windows 32bit?
Hello I have Debian Linux 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 Xen 4.0.1, 2 SAS drives in RAID 1, 16GB ram. I have virtualized Windows 2003R2 32bit where you install the latest version 0.11.0.295 gplpv After reading and reading forums and post testing, I noticed that the hard disk performance drops significantly when I assign the windows domU 9GB ram. (below I leave the config files) If I run the

Problem with "defined" keyword
Hi, I''m running Puppet 0.23.0 on my servers, and i got something like this: In a classa.pp file (included in site.pp): class A { file { "test1": ... } } In a classb.pp file (included in site.pp): class B { file { "test2": ... } if defined(File["test1"]) { ... do things ... } if

RFC: Configuration file consolidation (#206)
Hi all, This has theoretically been a high priority for a long time, and I''m finally going to get it done, I think. Here''s my plan, and I''d appreciate any comments you might have on it. Currently, sections only have meaning internally, in that one can call ''config.use(section)'' to create any directories needed for that section. Additionally,

Specify and respecify
Hello Puppet users, I had talked with Luke about this scenario and was wondering how others would/are handling something like this. Imagine a scenario where all servers will have a specific postfix configuration except for a server or two or three. So, you want to define a file "/etc/postfix/main.cf" and specify the source from your dist tree. But for those exceptional servers,

RFC: Moving mailing lists soon
I''m about to leave town for three weeks and my home server keeps rebooting. It''s my mail server, unfortunately, so there''s a good chance you won''t get this. :/ Anyway, I''ve been meaning to do this for ages and ages, and it''s time to finally do so. I need to move all of the Puppet lists to a public, non-me provider, someone who has

Removing circular dependant RPM files with Package.
Hello, I just attempted to remove both the ypbind and the yp-tools packages using the package parameter with yum. As it turns out, both of these packages depend on each other. Is there a way of forcing package removal and, if there is not, is there a way of making all packages to be removed be collapsed into the same yum command? Either of these solutions would solve the problem with the

Identifying similar but not identical rows in a dataframe
I would like to identify _almost_ duplicated rows in a data frame.  For example, I might declare as duplicates pairs of rows that are alike at about 80% of their columns.  When working with tens of thousands of rows and upwards of 20 columns an iterative approach, testing all permutations, can be time consuming.  Duplicated() with incomparables sounds like the ticket.  But previous discussion in
