Understanding re-sahring a NFS filesystem in Samba
Greetings, I made some search on Google regarding this matter and found many diverse information, some dated back to 2004, and would like to update and clarify this issue. The question is: "what's the problem on re-sharing a NFS filesystem with Samba?". The only way I found to share a NFS mount point on Samba without apparent problem is to disable file locking on NFS mount by

Restrict some directories in browse list
...p. I have a share 'Automation' with a sub-directory structure and I use Unix user and group rights to manage that. I would like 'Automation' to be invisible to about 1/2 of the users (today they see it even though they have no access). I am using 'hide unreadable' in the sahre and it works great 'inside' the share but what I would like is to hide the share itself. I've searched around and found an idea of including conf files per user or group (where I would define which shares appear) but this seems very complex to manage on a daily basis with a large...

Vanishing options in hp printer drivers
...ng, driver installation and printing work OK. Problem: using the same driver version with the printer shared by a windows box gives some additional options like - brochure printing - putting serveral pages on one sheet Any Idea why those options are gone from printer settings if the printer is sahred by a samba box and/or how to get them back? Thanks, Martin

CD sharing via iso9660, mounted, and samba
I have installed a small Limux box in my local primary school, in order to sahre CD iso images. The system works fine, untill several w/s's concurrently access the same program , whereupon, we get spurious crashes. I have tried disableing op-locks, which seemed to help, but only slightly. Any suggestions gratefully received. Shane oplock_break: no break received fro...

OCFS2 on Linux-x86-64 9iR2
Hello, we have two bugs filed for Linux-x86 and Linux-x86-64 both using OCFS2 for their 9.2.0.7 DB installation. Strange thing happening in these two ports is, after DB got created, we are seeing 'Corrupt data block' messages in alert logs and when the same blocks verified connecting to database appears to be clean. This inconsistency is stopping customer to go further use DB. This

NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED messages
We used successfully samba 3.5.15-74.fc15 in our production (animation studio). It was installed on FC15 on ext4 volume. Now, we got new hardware and tried fresh software installation: it is CentOS7, with Samba 4.1.12 and XFS volumes. So, now we got strange problem. Some production software (Autodesk Maya2016) got errors trying to work with files. There is no such problem with Samba3. For

WINS and browse list on multiple subnet architecture

With no wins server (nor xp client, nor samba configuration) used each subnet can see (browse) and can access (sahre) all other computer on the same subnet. Now, the idea is to make computer on each subnet must see computer on the other one with the help of WINS and master roles. I don't make this works. I don' t know where to place "remote announce", "remote browse sync" and whic...
